As many as 5 teams in the MAC West could win in 2007. The East should also be competitive, but I would say it will come down to 3 teams fighting it out. Schedules will play a big role in the outcome.
Gee- I cant wait for this season...
All I know that this is the THIRD pubication so far that picks the Flashes to win the East.

As the Flashes winning anything in football is a once in a lifetime opportunity, I'm gonna buy a lottery ticket and you should, too. 02-13-banana
I know we had a bad year last year but there is no way Miami is behind OU, Kent and Akron. I say Miami is #1 or #2 in the East.
The top 5 teams listed in the East above will be in a dogfight. My guess is that 5-3 or 6-2 wins the East with some tie breakers involved. As much as I like seeing Kent picked, they have to learn to play with expectations which they could not down the stretch last year. Kent has a tough schedule in playing OU and Crackron on the road. CMU at home is a tough crossover at home too. Should be a fun season in Flashland as we are finally competitive and in the mix!
Another thing to keep in mind is that games vs. the West do not count in the division race, which really muddies the waters. The are used as tiebreakers if the 6 division games result in ties. So what wins the East? 5-1? 4-2? Miami, Buffalo and BG visit Kent and we travel to Buffalo, Ohio U. and Temple. Schedule plays an even bigger part with only a 6 game scehdule. The 2 West games don't mean much.
Quote:For the 2007 season, as was the case in 2000 and 2001 when the MAC was at 13 teams, the league will play an unbalanced conference schedule, with divisional games being the primary factor in determining the divisional champion. Cross over games within the conference will serve as a tie-breaker, in the event that head-to-head results do not determine the divsional championship. The conference schedule meets the NCAA legislation for conference championship games which specifies that a league play a full round-robin divisional schedule.

Each MAC team will play a full schedule within its division. In overall MAC games, five of the six West Division teams will play seven league games with one team [Toledo] playing eight conference games. Six of the seven East Division schools will play eight MAC games with one [Miami] playing seven MAC contests.

Didn't realize that only divisional games count toward the divisional standings this year. That makes it really interesting...

I prefer they all pick them to finish 5th and they actually do win it to them being picked by everybody and not winning it. It's nice to finally get some respect and get such nods, but they still need to get out on the field and back it up.
