The Tar Heels lost their opening game as a No. 2 seed for the second year in a row and have now lost six consecutive ACC Tournament games since 2004.

Duncan outdueled UNC’s Adam Warren, who came into the game undefeated and with the league’s third best ERA at 1.93. After giving up back-to-back, run-scoring singles in the fourth inning, Duncan allowed just one hit and two walks over the next 42/3 innings.

The Yellow Jackets scored four runs in the seventh inning to take a 6-3 lead as they bunched three singles, three walks and a hit batter off four Tar Heels pitchers in the inning. Seven UNC pitchers combined to issue 11 walks.

Chad Flack and Tim Fedroff each had two hits and an RBI for North Carolina.
