Tim Lincecum will make his debut on sunday night baseball. The giants were pissed about the lack of attendance yesterday, so they told russ ortiz he had injured elbow and called up the STUD. There've been a ton of people writing about how he's better than felix and how his curveball is the best of the past 10 years. i guess we'll see.
I can't wait to see him pitch. So small, yet so overpowering. He could be the type of guy who racks up 250+ K's every year.

hopefully. i've been dying to watch him for awhile now. He better pick up my weekend, because i'm seeing spidey tonight, and i heard it was mediocre.

I'm seeing it tonight, too. I'm expecting it to rock, although I don't really pay attention to reviews.

it wasn't just the reviewers, basically everyone i've talked to and everyone online said the same thing.
Saw it and really enjoyed it.
In five starts for Triple-A Fresno, the 22-year-old Lincecum is 4-0 with a 0.29 ERA and 46 K in 31 innings. He's allowed only 12 hits and 11 walks. On Sunday night, he'll face one of last season's most hyped pitching call-ups, Cole Hamels.

He's not looking so great tonight. He really puts a lot of effort into every pitch.

not so great? he looks like trash. all i heard was koufax this, and pedro that. He looks more like russ ortiz. His fastball has lost a good 4 mph in the past few innings and that curveball doesn't look like anything special. My question is, who are these scouts that gave us these reports.

Jeez, swoosh, give the kid a break. He was consistently clocked around 92-97 from what I saw, so his velocity is fine. He just couldn't get his curveball over or keep his fastball down. Nerves, probably. But the kid has a million-dollar arm that I certainly wouldn't throw under the bus after one game. Are you giving up on Cain after his last start, too?

i like how you totally spun that "he was clocked around 92-97." what you failed to mention is that he was 95-97 in the 1st 2 innings and 91-93 in the next two. I don't think i've ever seen a pitcher do that. That's what worried me. Not to mention the curveball didn't look dominant. What i'm hoping is that he blew his energy out of nerves in the first couple innings, and he was overthrowing his curveball. I'm giving him one more start. If the velocity thing stays the same, then i think he should become a closer.
BTW, i'm not worried about cain, because i've seen him have tons of great starts, not to mention his velocity stays consistent.
How many starting pitchers hit the high-90's on every fastball? As a starting pitcher, you have to take a little off your fastball in order to conserve your stamina. But when he needed to crank up the velocity of his fastball he was able to. His command of it was just off.

c'mon, can you honestly say you've ever seen a player lose 4 mph after 2 innings? It wasn't about conserving his energy.

no he wasn't. He was as low as 90. Well i've definitely never seen it. I hope you can see why i'm worried. I expected a guy whose velocity would stay in the mid 90's. I also expected a dazzling curveball and a nasty changeup. I guess i'll have to wait till his next start, of course that's in coors.
I would just advise you to give him a little more time. I watched the game last night and I didn't see anything to really be concerned with. His line wasn't great, but you could tell he has a live arm.
