A 3-9 start and now he's challenging a radio host to a fight? Should the Phillies cut this guy loose before they fall out of contention?
i say give it a month. he's not much of a manager, but this team is pretty poorly put together.

True, they were quite overrated going into the season. The bullpen, including Tom Gordon, is a disaster. And their rotation, while solid in depth, lacks a stopper.

another problem with the rotation, and many other rotations is that it lacks a back end. the second half is very weak. Also, like buck martinez said, they have no impact bat in the OF. Burrell has good power, but he's a very good hitter.

I assume you meant to say he's not a very good hitter, in which case I agree. I always view him as a pretty easy out, especially with runners on base.

Their lineup is decent but once you get past Utley and Howard you feel like you can get through the rest of the lineup pretty easily.

yeah, my bad, i'm trying to type fast during the commercials (giants game). we suck BTW.

I think Gillick and manuel should share the blame. I mean on the one hand, it's not gillick's fault that myers, howard and utley aren't playing well. But there's no doubt that he left the cupboard bare for manuel. i mean freddy garcia? c'mon. he hasn't broken 84 in 3 years.
Maybe they needed something like what Manuel did. Sometimes Managers get tossed on purpose just to fire up their teams.

Phillies won today and Gordon got the save.
