do you guys think tyler walker and jason schimdt could have been on steroids? i've never seen anybody lose as much velocity over a shorter period of time, than those guys. walker threw 96 last year and was topping out at 92 this year. schmidt used to throw 95-96, now he tops out at 94 and is usually at 91-93.
I think way more pitchers in general have been on steroids than we all suspected, and Schmidt and Walker may have been two of those guys.
However, would getting off steroids really cause you to lose so much velocity? Velocity is generated by arm speed and mechanics, not pure strength. I could be wrong, but I just don't see how steroids could make you throw the ball much harder.

i don't know either, but a lot of scouts seem to think that there were a ton of pitchers juicing. maybe their arms don't recover as quickly because they aren't on the roids.
That's a good point.
I have to agree with those scouts that there were a lot of pitchers juicing. Like more than half of the guys that have gotten busted have been pitchers, which has been very surprising to me.
