From three Iraqi defectors we know that Iraq, in the late 1990s, had several mobile biological weapons labs. These are designed to produce germ warfare agents, and can be moved from place to a place to evade inspectors. Saddam Hussein has not disclosed these facilities. He's given no evidence that he has destroyed them.

The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed in the 1990s that Saddam Hussein had an advanced nuclear weapons development program, had a design for a nuclear weapon and was working on five different methods of enriching uranium for a bomb. The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa. Our intelligence sources tell us that he has attempted to purchase high-strength aluminum tubes suitable for nuclear weapons production. Saddam Hussein has not credibly explained these activities. He clearly has much to hide.

Another side note that isn't getting much play in the Plame leak is that the President knowingly LIED to the American people in TSOTU in 2003. That NIE that his team cherry picked to Judith Miller clearly stated that the State Dept. knew the aluminum tubes were not for nuclear weapons production. Our own state dept. knew this and it was in the NIE that was leaked by Libby. Yet, some of you continue to defend it. (Niner????) Yesterday, MSNBC, reported we had a special force unit inside and the relayed back that the three Bioweapons trailers were actually port a potties. Why did Bush push all his chips in the middle of the pot on Iraq?
Should he be impeached? If he is it's only payback for Lewinsky. The greater question is why the rush to war? I never could answer it. None of it made sense. I think Graybeard might be on to something with the Bretton Woods angle.

Who's Bretton Woods?
Another funny yet tragic part of this story is the curve ball angle. Research Curve Ball if anyone is interested. He was handled by the Germans and they thought he was mentally unstable. He supposedly drove a txi in Baghdad and fabricated his way out of Iraq. He's one of the three spies that Bush uses for the 2003 SOTU mobile weapons lab. Tragic.

You have 5 posts in your history and to date this is the first I've ever read. Just funny to me that you're calling me out on this.

In any case, the President didn't lie in The State of the Union. A British report and a Senate Intellegence Commt. report have all shown this. I'll direct you to Conclusion 21 of the Senate Select Commt.'s report on pre-war intellegence.

Quote:Conclusion 21. When coordinating the State of the Union, no CIA analysts or officials told the NSC to remove the "16 words" or that there were concerns about the credibility of the Iraq-Niger uranium reporting. A CIA official's orginal testimony to the Committee that he told an NSC offical to remove the words "Niger" and "500 tons" from the speech, is incorrect

Class dismissed.
Graybeard,

What really scares me about your angle. Have you seen the run up in gold the last couple of months? I really think you could be on to something. Look at what the dollar has done since 2000. That is akin to a giant tax on the world. Especially Asian countries who hold our debt. If Europetrol currencies grab hold. It would be DEVESTATING to our way of life and Russia and ESPECIALLY China would benefit from an Iraninan bourse.
Niner,

We have a history. Notice on my posts I have the aluminum tubes highlighted. This was in that NIE. Our own state dept knew it to be false. Yet he still used it. I am aware that some still hold parts of the Niger story to be true.
Niner,

How's the bank business been? Bank of America I believe?

Here is how I see it transpiring. As these sorts of issues continue, see maniac Chavez as another possibility, many nations will sell their American $$ that they are holding for future oil purchases for the more stable Euro. Thus, devaluing the dollar even more. We are looking at an economic collapse here folks.

Once we hit that stride, as our economy crumbles, the dominoes across the world will follow. Think China, Taiwan, Mexico, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and any other country that exports to the US. As the US economy falls, we won't be buying stuff from those countries, thus sending their economies into a tail spin and driving up enemployment across the world.

The world will have to bail us out for the stability of the global economy. So what do we do? Some sort of global currency will be the only solution.

We are in trouble guys. Gold is a smart buy right now, and I am looking at moving my investments into gold soon.

Must be pretty unremarkable since I have no clue who you are. Did I shred you to pieces back then so you had to change your name? lmfao

The CIA was pushing the aluminum tubes piece. That, just like many other things, had analysts in some agencies agreeing and others disagreeing. If you read the Senate Commt. report on the pre-war intellegence you find one fact and don't find another.

The fact you find is the intellegence agencies didn't communicate about the information they had. That each had their own agendas and it was all one big turf war.

What you don't find is "Bush lied."

Move on. (no pun intended)

Pretty good. Wish our stock was better, but hopefully once we've completed the conversion for MBNA it will go back up.
Graybeard,

Did you read that energy bulletin?
The portion of the Senate report that deals with the tubes.

Quote:Similarly, when International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors returned to Iraq in late 2002, one of their key lines of work was to investigate Iraq's claims that aluminum tubes it was trying to procure were intended for artillery rockets. The IAEA found that Iraq's claims that the aluminum tubes were intended for artillery rockets was completely consistent with the evidence on the ground in Iraq. The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) responded to the IAEA's analysis by producing intelligence reports which rejected the IAEA's conclusions. Without giving many details of the IAEA's findings, ClA's analysis suggested that the IAEA was being fooled by Iraq, and reiterated ClA's assessment that the tubes were to be used in uranium centrifuges.

You strike me as very Dogger. Are you he?

Gold's been going up for the last 6 months or so. If you're going to buy, buy now.

Yes I did.

I don't think it is going to stop going up anytime soon, and if the dollar does collapse, a little gold will go much farther than a lot of Dollars.

No, not my guess. I was originally thinking JBR, but I have serious doubts about that one as well.

How about our missing mod...Schadenfreude?

I really don't think we'll see the dollar collapse. The overall economy is doing very well and inflation is holding.

I think a devaluation of the dollar was inevitable as economies get more and more global. Too many other countries are tied to the success of the dollar for it to just collapse. I think we'd have to see a depression era type crash for that to happen.

As long as the economy remains strong, so will the dollar.

Schad hated my guts. This guy is too civil to be Schad.
Niner,

It boils down to this. After the mounting evidence. Do you believe President Bush actually thought there were WMD's. If you do you are a "true believer".

I think the dominoes were set in motion in his inaugural address in 2000. They just needed a reason. I always thought it was about the oil. After reading up on the Oil Bourse angle I actually felt compelled to sign up for an account.

My computer crashed in 2004. I couldn't remember my password for Dogger when I bought my new Sony Vaio. My old e-mail for Dogger is no longer in use.

So, with Bush hovering around a 36% approval rating and a 60% disapproval rating I thought I would check in with my old friends to see how they were doing.

I'm as ticked off about this immigration issue as just about anybody. Except I'm pissed about the attack on the middle class from two flanks. First it was outsourcing, now for lack of a better term it's insourcing. It's time for me to start posting again.

AND NOW MORE THAN EVER...... WE NEED AN ALTERNATIVE ENERGY!!!
Wow, good guess Niner....Welcome back Dogger. Just no meltdowns...OK?
I was ALWAYS the voice of reason on this here board. hee hee ;-) Thanks Graybeard! Good to be back! Hope everyone is doing well.
