So I'm getting ready to start researching for my rotisserie league and I'm trying to gauge the O's young arms. Of course we've got Scott Erickson coming off surgery, and we've got Ponson coming off another mediocre year. I won't put Jason Johnson in the "young talent" category, he's been around a couple years and he's nearly 30, I think. But we've also got Josh Towers, Sean Douglass, John Stephens, and Rick Bauer. Any of these guys have a chance to do anything? Josh Towers looks like he's got great stuff, he just needs to learn how to pitch to major league hitters. He can spot a ball like nobody else in the organization, but unfortunately, in the majors, you need to throw some balls as well. You can't throw a strike every pitch. Sean Douglass looked impressive for a young guy. He looked like he wasn't jittery, and if you throw out his one appearance in July, he had a 3.24 ERA. Quite a few strikeouts, but some walks as well. I didn't get to see Rick Bauer much. He went 0-5, but his numbers weren't terrible for someone fresh out of the minors. I know nothing about John Stephens. And some people seem to be high on Jorge Julio and John Parrish.
my advice is simple, don't pick anyone on the orioles.
Jason Johnson may not be a bad late pick same with Towers, Erickson is too much of a gamble. I would lay off Ponson.
Especially with the fences at Camden being moved in this year -- avoid O's pitchers.
