Just looking back at whose class turned out to be the best between UNC and Duke.

Felton>Dockey
Redick=McCants
Noel>Melch
Grant>Thompson
Sanders<Shav
May=Williams

I think UNC's class has turned out to be the better one so far.
Grant > Thompson... this just brightened up my day. :laugh:

It's not really fair to judge the classes, seeing how one team is heavily reliant on them, and the other team could start a decent team of no freshmen (Duhon, Ewing, Jones, Horvath, Sanders).

If the roles were reversed, I think I would be the one starting this thread. FWIW, I think if Shav was suiting up for UNC, he would be the best player for them.

I agreed with this part.

This part tripped me out.

I was really looking forward to seeing Sean May abuse Shav like he did in high school. Oh well -- maybe next year.... 03-wink

I'm pretty sure Doh! thought pretty highly of Shav.

-getting MJ to wear a Shav country T-shirt.
-Playing video games with him in his basement.
-Trying to push Shav's parents' alma mater on Shav.

Bill Donovan flew up, spent probably close to $1000 just to wave at him.

If he got 35 mins a game at UNC, he would average about 17 points, 7 rebs and 3 blocks. He is that good.
I'm not saying that we wouldn't have taken Shav, but I think it's quite a stretch to say that he would be the best player on our team. Due to our size issues, he would have gotten a lot of PT and a lot of chances to show his value. But, Sean May outplayed him multiple times in high school -- that is a fact. And, we've got some other guys on the team that can play as well.

If Shav were so good, he'd be tearing it up at dook. He's done a great job -- and I think he will only get better -- but nobody is calling for ROY honors or anything.

Right now, he's not getting any minutes at Duke. Someone at TDD, who loves stats, said that Shav averages something like 21 ppg when he gets over 25 mins. Most of that is due to K's faith in Horvath, Sanders and Shelden over Shav.

Agreed 100%. It is a new game on the college level, and what you did on the highschool level doesn't mean anything. No doubt Shav is talented, but you have to be if you are playing college ball in the ACC. His hunt for playing time isn't going to get any easier with Humphries and Deng coming in next year.

BTW, Doherty doesn't take white people at UNC. I would love to have Shelden though. 03-wink

This is entirely inconsistent with your earlier claim (when Felton was a HS senior) that Felton was better than Duhon.
As far as quality, regardless of injuries, UNC has the better class. Noel has been quite a surpirse this year, as has Shelden Williams. Sean May is probably the best inside propsect to date. The best PG has to be
Felton then Gilchrist/Galloway. Dockery is still pending as well as Gray.

Gray has held his own this year, i would put him right next to felton, honestly.

No way.
