FRIDAY NIGHT 8 at the DEAN DOME

Well, I went to see Felton last night at the Dean Dome and it was awesome ! His BeachBall team played against a team from Seattle that featured the Stewart Twins. Felton was superb , even though he didn't have too do much.

According to the stats that I kept in my head, Felton dropped 21 points, dished out 5+ assists, and probably had 5+ steals. And boy, can he pass the ball. His view of the court is amazing, and he sees everything before it happens. Numerous times his passes were so fast and great, but his teamates couldn't catch them or complete the play.

He is going to be great next year running the point for us. I can't wait to watch him more today.

BTW, the Stewart twins (which we once persuing, but aren't anymore) have AMAZING athletic/jumping ability, which they displayed in warmups, but neither has the caliber of game that we need here at NC.

More to come...
Thanks hoops -- I can't wait to see Felton in Carolina blue!

Anxiously awaiting your next report....

SATURDAY AT 2PM IN THE DEAN DOME VS. TEXAS ELITE

Ray faced Jason Horton, another talented point guard from the class of 2004. It was fun to watch Horton try and guard Felton, and Ray would just spin past him; and Horton would try to drive the lane, and Felton would beat him to the spot and keep him out. I arrived late in the first half, and I saw Felton score about 10 pts, so he must of had about 20 ots for the game. But the thing is, Ray was obviously not playing all out. If Ray wants to score, he will, and both we and he knows it.

Anyways, Felton's team trailed by 1 with 15 seconds in the 2nd half, when the Texas Team scored. BeachBall quickly imbounded to Felton, who flew up-court, spinning through defenders and going around the back with his dribbles, and then he buried a deep 3 pointer at the end of regulation to send the game to overtime; the Heels went nuts.

But in the short overtime, the Texas Team put up more points. The game was tied with less than 10 seconds to go, when the refs made a bad call and Horton got to go to the line to shoot 2 shots with 1.5 seconds remaining. He missed the first, as Felton looked to have given him some words before he shot from behind him , and on the second he missed too. However, Wingate didn't box out, and a Texas player tipped teh ball in at the buzzer and Felton's team lost.

Felton is awesome, and he is exactly what we need next year.
Overall, I thought Felton played well. He is going to be an awesome point guard.

People need to get it in their heads though, that his forte is PASSING! Although he can score, he is not going to be our go to guy next year when it comes to putting points on the board.

His 3 point shot could use a little work (form and consistency wise) but it is still very good.

He can knock down his free throws which is very good and will be key late in close games.

His on the ball defense could use some work, although I am sure he wasn't trying too hard in the TOC this weekend.

It should be great next year, I am excited! Go Heels!
