23-23. What an unreal game.

Panthers 29 Rams 23.

It was a great game. I only watched the two overtimes but apparently, the Rams had to make a run for it just to get into OT. I just remember lip-reading what Martz said when Carolina's guy basically took the ball right out of the wide receiver's hand. "How can you do that?" is what he said. :laugh:

All I gotta say is...kickers have a hard life. Great game.

Great game. Congrats to the Carolina Panthers.

I think they have a real shot at not only advancing to the Super Bowl, but also winning it. Jake is a baller.

what a terrible game. it was great for carolina fans because they won, but damn that was an overall terrible game. Nothing like 20 penalties from one team. Oh and let's not forgot the time that was wasted by "freezing the kicker." As if that works.

It was an exciting game at the very end, i'll give it that.

But wait the NFL is trying to screw the fans some more, they decided to make the 8:00 game the Patriots v Titans. Nothing like a night game in the middle of january in foxboro (or wherever they play). What a joke. Why couldn't the night game have been the st.louis game, which was in a dome?

You are nuts, that was an incredible game. And the reason the New England game was at night is because it was the better game...league MVP vs. the top seeded team. Most people expected the other game to be a blow out....by the Rams. They put the game that would get better ratings in prime time...its not that complicated.

Guess what -- it did. Twice.

IMO, anyone who watched that game and thought it was a "terrible game" needs to get their head examined (no harm meant there -- that's just how I feel). I would argue it was a great game even if the Panthers had lost, which is not something I normally do when my team loses.

Yes, there were a lot of penalties -- but the recovery from those was awesome. The Panthers made the plays on defense to keep the Rams out of the end zone on the first three possessions of the game (they were inside the 10 each time). That was a huge way to set the tone for the game. And, the Panthers always seemed to make the third-down conversions they needed to keep drives alive. Jake came of age this game, if he hasn't already before now.

There was never a dull moment from the start of the game to the very end. Did you find yourself bored during any part of that game? I didn't think so....

It was one of the best games I have ever seen.

We have been blessed with some really good football games thus far this post season, lets hope it continues. New England and Tennesee was another classic in the nightcap.

Anyone who thinks that was a bad game doesnt appreciate good football.

Horrible play calling down the stretch IMO.

He should have went for the win in regulation instead of letting the clock run out for a game tying field goal. The guy may know how to run an offense but he sure as hell doesnt know how to manage a game.

yes, i know they put the better game on during primetime. They wanted MORE money. Doesn't that constitute screwing the fans in New England? i think it does. Also, how can anyone think the Rams were going to blow the Panthers out? I certainly didn't. before the game, i predicted a Panthers win.

But great ending and rams lost so I'm happy. But what a chicken to run out the clock to tie. Play with some cohones! Maybe he can find his in the offseason since he's done for the year.

actually, i do like some of the NFL. I like the patriots and i love the Giants. but the NFL has lost me. I don't usually watch the games, so i'm not a hypocrite. It just so happened that i needed to see some sports yesterday, because the NBA really sucks.

Actually, i believe you're wrong about the New England fans. Just because you're a die hard fan, doesn't mean you like sitting in the negative degree cold. If the Giants were forced to play in the Meadowlands at 8:00 in january instead of 4:30, i would be mad (if i still lived in NY).

Guess why there are some false start and delay penalties on a road team playing in a dome -- because the place is LOUD! That will happen to just about every team playing in that situation. As they always say, it is impossible to simulate crowd noise in a dome. Maybe you didn't expect that, but I did -- even knowing that the Panthers had no penalties last week. I think the fact that it didn't happen to the Panthers more is a testament to the preparation they put into the game.

I'm sorry for answering for you before -- but I obviously think you were in the vast minority of those bored. I was bored at many points of the Panthers-Cowboys game last weekend... and I was at that game. I was never bored last night because this game never got out of hand for either team. (Watching the Panthers this year, I also knew the game wasn't over when they got up by 11... so I didn't get bored then, either.)

Maybe the kickers were iced last night, and maybe they weren't. I don't think you can say for sure that kickers are never iced, especially during games of that magnitude. When you give them a chance to think about the fact that their kick could be the difference between going to the NFC championship and going home, it might make a difference. I do agree that Kasay and Wilkens are two top-notch kickers, though.

Also, it's not just the kicker that can be iced. There are 10 other players out on the field for that play, and any of them can think about it too much and do something detrimental to the team. The snapper can miss his spot (happened to the Giants snapper vs. the Niners last year). The holder can muff the snap. Any of the offensive linemen could false start.

there were many other penalties besides false start, that weren't because of crowd noise.

The kickers know the outcome of their kicks without being iced. Plus, Kasay and Wilkins are long time veterans, who shouldn't be bothered.

Players can definitely feel pressure, but not many veterans let it get to them.

Just as a side note, don't blame pressure for the Giants botching the snap last year, because that happened all season.
