Just close your eyes and think Happy Thoughts, Cons. Maybe we'll just go away! :roflol:
I think polling in this area is really convoluted and incorrect in their assumptions/results.

First of all, how are these polls conducted and what kind of questions are asked? Who do they poll and how do they go about deciding the sample population? How large is their sample populations?

Second, this comes down to electoral votes, so when a polls matches Kerry (or any other Dem) with Bush, the poll deals solely with popular vote status, not the electoral vote content of each state in the Union.

It is quite possible Bush is unpopular by a very large portion of Americans, but how many of these do vote, and will vote in December?

Even if more voters choose the Dem over Bush in the national election, the electoral vote still decides the race. Bush will take the midwest, Texas, Florida and the South. Adding up all these electoral votes certainly gives Bush the edge.

From what I know (which isn't much), the Dems will probably take Michigan, New York, California and Oregon. Will this be enough to gain the electoral edge? I don't think so.

I therefore conclude that Mr. Evil, GW Bush, will have another term. And it could be worse, Stalin! We could have a system that allows Bush to be reelected as often as possible! At least we know with the current system that Bush will launch only one more war and then it's someone else's turn to send our young men and women to war (because it seems like that is all the president does! where's the Congressional oversight!).
