Way to put up an effort in Miami tonight. The Heat leads 55-31 midway thru the 2nd qtr.
Oh, but it gets worse...The Heat leads 73-42 at the half. Pathetic. 03-puke
gosh, you guys are right, there's no competitive balance in baseball. Stupid baseball, how come one league isn't heads and shoulders above the others? When will baseball learn, that true competitive balance is achieved when one league is infinitely better than the other.
We're just going through the motions, but I don't think that's a bad thing. We should just lose the rest of our games and hope we get the No. 1 pick.

The thing is in the NBA having the worst record doesnt guarantee the best pick. Dont worry guys, you are just saving up and hoping to make some big free agent moves next season.

You're in better shape than the Wizards, we lose and we have little cap room :(

I know. That's why I said hope.

Don't worry. The Hawks will probably find a way to screw that up too. :(

BTW, the Hawks now trail by 41...against the Heat!!! That's insane.

Don't be fooled. The Heat is a terrible team too. It's not like they're heads and shoulders above the Hawks.

And because of a salary cap-type system in the NBA, nearly every team can compete if the owner wants to invest some money into the team.

100% agree.
GDawgs88 Wrote:BTW, I know the Hawks roster is all jumbled after these trades, but you gotta do better than the that against the Heat for cripes-sake!
:stupid:

But hey, the Hawks are making a comeback! It's only a 109-74 lead for the Heat now. 03-wink
Only down 35! Come on, Hawks! All we need is a 3, a stop, a 3, a stop, a 3, a stop, a 3, a stop, a 3, a stop, a 3, a stop, a 3, a stop, a 3, a stop, a 3, a stop, a 3, a stop, a 3, a stop, a 3 and a stop and we'll lead 110-109!

LOL

i don't mean to be rude, but did you miss the whole point of my post? I wasn't talking about the Hawks at all. I was talking about the Eastern and Western conference. Plus, the Heat and the hawks are in the same conference.

And, it's because of the salary cap, that a lot of teams can't compete.

I guess it was too little, too late. They ended up losing 125-92. :ownd:
Dang...

If only we could have made 11 more 3's and one more free throw! LOL

That's true that there is a big difference between the teams in the East and West. I don't know if anything is to blame for that though (teams like the Knicks, Nets, Pacers, etc spend a lot of money). The West just happens to have all the great big men.

but doesn't that mean the competitive balance is out of whack?
First of all, the Heat are not terrible. They could quite possibly make the playoffs this year.

Second of all, the East is not as far behind the West as people would like to believe. The Pistons, Pacers, Knicks, and Nets have quietly built teams that will compete in the next couple of years with the West. And while many teams in the East are stinking it up now, many, such as the Bucks, Cavs, Heat, Raptors, and others are rapidly improving. Sure, there are teams in the East like the Hawks who absolutely are an embarrasment, and that is the difference between the East and the West, the West has no embarrasments. I refuse to completely rule out that the East can't win the NBA Finals this year.
Also, I agree with Terpy, the Hawks are at least now moving in some sort of direction. It is not impossible they could pull a Nuggets and be in the playoffs next year.
I just quit playing high school baseball today, and i'll tell you something. I always loved baseball, but it took me quitting to recognize that baseball is so far and away better than every other sport. It's more real, more pure and so much more consistent. You guys can waste your time and argue all you want, but giving up playing opened my eyes to just how amazing baseball really is.
