It would be a stretch and I don't think the NCAA panel will do it, but I think the ACC could get 8 teams into the tournament. Duke, State, Georgia Tech, Wake, Carolina are all locks. With that said, let's examine the other 3 teams:
Maryland
The Terps sit right now at 6-9 with one game to go against Virginia. With strong out of conference wins against Florida and Wisconsin, even if the Terps lose to Virginia, the Terps should get in at 6-10.
Virginia
Virginia's record is right now at 6-9 with one game to go against Maryland. The Cavs' out of conference schedule is not as tough, therefore I think they would have to be 7-9 to even be considered. By winning against Maryland and being only one game below .500 in the ACC, they would force the NCAA committee to give them one hard look.
FSU
Like Virgina and Maryland, Florida State's record is also 6-9. The Seminoles face Georgia Tech in Atlanta. With some good wins in conference and some solid out of conference victories, you'd have to think that the Seminoles could get in on 7-9.
