Quote:The three blacks told investigators they had been looking for a car to steal when they entered the Howard Beach neighborhood. They told police a white man in an SUV passed them in the street, exchanged stares with them and then returned with two friends and a baseball bat before chasing them on foot.

Only in America can you admit to trying to steal a car and not only do you not get arrested, the person that chased you and beat you for the attempt is arrested and charged with a "hate crime."

As a side note, I feel that it is also tragic that as an American you have to take the law into your own hands. Unless it is murder, the police don't want anything to do with it. My friend recently had his car broken into, what did the police do? Absolutely nothing, just gave him a copy of the police report.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?
i read this article in the post this morning. at first i thought it was sad and unfotunate, but then i recognized that those damn kids were looking to jack someone's ride. i then decided that he got what he deserved.
it is not smart for a black person to wander into hudson beach. blacks and italians generally do not get along. a black kid wandered into hudson beach about 20 years ago. the gavons (sp) chased him, and he tried to get away by running through the southern state. he was hit by a car. that's how scared he was. you do not run through the southern st.

when i was in a historically italian neighborhood in philly, three black kids walked past us, and i saw an old italian woman peer out the door at them while they were walking away. needless to say, she looked very suspicious.
I strangely see both sides.

1) Yes, they may have had intentions to steal a car, but the attack was unprovoked nor in self-defense. I agree with all charges levied on the man, except that hate crime (double-speak) BS.

2) The black men should also be arrested for whatever you give people for "intentions for grand theft auto".

3) I would arrest Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson pre-emtively with the knowledge that they're gonna try and pull some stupid "White Devil"/racist NYC protest. :chair:

That was Howard beach. When you want to speak with authority on a subject, it would behoove you to get the area correct.

i got mixed up. geez, lay off. talk about confrontational. i was thinking hudson river when i typed that.
i knew something was wrong when i was typing that.

but belive me, black people who live anywhere near there, know not to wander into HOWARD beach, just as i know not to wander into compton.

How is your post NOT supposed to be taken as racist? It could have been white guys and I'd have still laughed my *** off that they got their asses beat. The irony I was trying to point out was that they ADMITTED what their intentions were and were portrayed as "victims". What's worse, is that while they didn't commit their crime, they did intend to, yet the other guys were charged with a hate crime, which is also a crime of "intention". It's hypocritical.

i don't care if you take it as a racist. what are you gonna do, arrest me? i wasn't trying to be racist, just practical.

i wonder how many people would stay as posters in the spin room, if you weren't here?
i thought you meant something was wrong w/ the story b/c black people decided to go into howard beach.

Good question, why don't you ask all of your friends. Oh, that's right, you don't have many friends.

I have to agree with Kev on this. Your remarks definitely feel racist.

I also agree with him that it is tragic not because it is white vs. black, but because 3 people who admittedly were going to commit a crime were not arrested while a person who stopped the crime, albeit in a violent manner, is arrestted and then charged with a hate crime on top of it.

i could care less if they "feel" racist. label me as a racist, i don't really care.

i don't get confrontational as a result of typo's, or mix-ups. i only get confrontational when i disagree.

plus, it's not really your business. if your name isn't rebelkev or flyingswoosh, stand aside.
