I left this board about a week ago because, as I have told some of the regulars here that have asked me to return, I have far more important things to worry about in my life than a bunch of angry, can't take a joke, won't talk sports, name calling, insulting, cursing bunch of <span style='font-size:21pt;line-height:100%'>5</span> loss FSU "fans".

So here I am, a few days after my Dawgs dominated every second of the sUGAr Bowl wondering what to say to all of you that have been so incredibly rude over the past month to myself and other posters that come over here to talk about football. I have been lurking for the past week reading other posts where you guys insult people that root for other teams that post here, and then when you don't have them to be rude to, you are rude to each other. Yea, I've read all the posts. It's just that I decided not to post anymore because most of you people just can't handle losing and can't handle somone elses opinions.

I thought it would be a couple of days before the sUGAr Bowl excuses started to fly from this board, but Garnet was on top of that less than 12 hours after the game ended with the following quote:
Quote:FSU had a 3rd string qb and WR at qb for the Sugar Bowl
It's like I said in my dominating Sugar Bowl thread in November, if FSU was contending for anything other than to avoid 5 losses, they would be more focused and would not have players suspended because they genuinely didn't give a crap about this game and certainly did not deserve to be on the same field as a 12-1 UGA.

I have also seen MsNole's post about FSU holding UGA to field goals in the 2nd half. A couple of things come to mind here. One, that's all we needed in the 2nd half to sustain our lead and two, as Richt was quoted as saying about our lackluster offense in the 2nd half "You can be fancy and do a lot of things that might get you more scores, but you can also change the momentum," Richt said. "I didn't want to do anything that would change the momentum in their favor. . . . I guess I'm a lot more conservative than I thought I was." . That's why we only threw the ball 15 times the entire game. We dominated the game on both sides of the line and all we had to do in the 2nd half was let Musa run. Watch the clock tick. No need to run the score up. So MsNole, your defense didn't hold UGA to anything in the 2nd half. We held ourselves to a conservative offense because the game was over in the 1st half. I knew it, UGA fans knew it and Richt knew it.

Something else that I found interesting about this past week. UGA sent ALL of their players to New Orleans. I mean every single player on the roster inlcuding taxi squad players. All total, UGA sent 125 players to New Orleans. So many in fact, that there were duplicate jersey numbers that had to be used. I bring this up because UGA has academic eligibility rules in place as well and EVERY SINGLE UGA player was academically eligible to make the trip.

Obviously I have a lot to say to all of you but I'll end my post here. You guys continually run people off "your" board if you don't like what they say. Your "moderators" edit and delete posts that they don't agree with. You are a bunch of angry, hateful people that don't want to talk sports unless everyone agrees with you, and most of you don't check your facts before you post. The sUGAr Bowl was NOT a great game. It was anti-climatic for most UGA fans I know. After we kicked your butts, I went to bed with a ho-hum attitude because we were supposed to win and we were expected to win. It sucked playing FSU and it nearly cost us in the final polls today. USC almost caught us because they beat a real team and we beat a 4 loss team that no BCS bowl wanted.

Now, bring it on FSU "fans". I eagerly await your replies.

Edit #2 already! Garnet has already edited my post twice. Why? Because I only quoted part of his excuse for losing the Sugar Bowl. Oh, the other part of his excuse quote was that UGA won the game fair and square. What the hell does that mean? Fair and sqaure? Does that mean we didn't cheat? Does it mean we played with 11 players at a time? Does it mean we didn't pay off the refs? If it was really fair and square, then we would have had three of our starters kicked off the team and played the 2nd half with Terrence Edwards at QB. Fair and square? Gimme a break.

So,
<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>IF YOU WANT TO REFUTE WHAT I SAY HERE, POST YOUR OWN DAMN REPLY, DON'T EDIT MY POST!</span>

And by the way, why does Garnet still have moderating abilities. Wasn't he fired weeks ago for his gay bashing post?

"NEXT TIME PRINT WHAT WAS WROTE AFTER THAT, PRINT THE WHOLE QUOTE"

Edited by Garnet & Gold - Jan 4 2003, 11:27 AM

Just a thought...wasn't this board created to escape moderating practices just like this??? (oh, and btw....it's "written") 03-wink
Hi Sarah. I suspect that is why there is such few posters on this board. Too much editing and cursing and name calling by the same usual suspects. The three of them know who they are.
Garnett and Gold...UGA fans don't care about the score of the game. You say we only one by 13 points. Well, the oddsmakers only figured us to win by 8 points so we beat the spread. Do you know what it means to give points in setting the betting line? It means that Georgia would have to spot FSU to an 8 point lead in order to make the game EVEN. It means we were supposed to be 8 points better than you...and we beat you by 13!

And BTW, you weren't quite complete in painting your woeful description of the 'Noles plight in the Sugar Bowl. Not only did you have to use a receiver as a QB, but in doing so you took your best receiver out of the game!

We beat FSU and we beat the spread. No one is crying about not running up the score. We are proud that Coach Richt showed enough class not to humiliate his former boss and his former players. The question is: where do the 'Noles go from here? If you don't win the recruiting battle this winter the answer will be: nowhere.

They'll probably go to another BCS bowl by winning the ACC again next year with 4 losses because Maryland and NC St will choke again. Wow, wouldn't it have been a great Sugar Bowl playing Maryland. That would have been a good test for UGA.

Luckydawg, that could be said for any team that doesnt recruit well.
Also what I meant by beating us by only 13 is not taking away anything from UGA, its that all I heard was about this BIG HUGE Blowout that UGA would win by. A win is a win is a win.
I also noticed that Richt wasnt to comfortable playing against Bowden, and he mentioned it a day later when he said that the only way he would consider playing FSU would be if it was in the Sugar Bowl next year.
Again, things happen, UGA played FSU in the Sugar Bowl and all UGA has to do is win all of their games.
Only Miami and Ohio State can lay claim to that, and the BCS wont change anything about it because they are only concerned about the National Championship.
The BCS will say we had #1 play #2 and thats what matters.
Coach Richt is a hell of a coach and wish him the best.

Yea, but Garnet keep this in mind. If the conference alliances with the BCS stay intact (which I presume they will), then the FSU Rule will eventually be put into place prohibiting a team from qualifying for the BCS with more than 2 or 3 losses. One can only hope that the BCS wises up so a 4 loss team NEVER EVER gets to play a top 5 team in a bowl.
Garnett,

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Coach Richt was clearly uncomfortable about playing FSU. I think it was difficult for him to enjoy the fruits of his labors having to play against Bowden ( a man he openly loves and reveres like a father), and against the very kids he recruited, coached, and loved. This game seemed to be an unenjoyable event for him. Just look at how he reacted to the traditional Gator Aid bath!

I don't know who was predicting a blow out in the Sugar Bowl, but I never doubted that we would do just enough to win and nothing more.

What a bittersweet thing this really was.

How true Lucky. Imagine what would have been Richt's reaction if we had just beaten USC or Iowa. As I have said all along, we had nothing to gain by winning this game and everything to lose. FSU had everything to gain and nothing to lose. All of Dawg Nation, including our coaches and players expected to win this game so when it was said and done it was kind of, "oh well, that's what we were expected to do".
