Article in the Tampa Tribune...
FSU, Bowden Comfortable With Status Of Contract
Published: Jan 2, 2003
Director of Athletics Dave Hart said Florida State has no plans to rework Coach Bobby Bowden's contract before it expires Jan. 5, 2005. That doesn't mean Bowden is planning on retiring after two more seasons.
A clause in the contract calls for the sides to evaluate Bowden's future on a year-to-year basis, beginning before the '05 season.
"At the end of this [contract], we'd sit down on an annual basis and talk about how he was, how his health was. ... He thought that was very fair,'' Hart said. "There wouldn't be any change in that approach. Everyone felt good about it then and still does.''
Bowden warned not to take seriously any rumors that he is considering retirement.
"Consider the source,'' Bowden said. "There might be an enemy lurking out there somewhere.''
