Full Version: Dahntay for ACC POY?

Everyone knows Dahntay is one of the best defenders in the country, that is no secret. But recently, he's hit teams up for about 20 points regularly, while shutting down people like Marvin Lewis and Josh Howard.

I think he's definitely in the top 3 right now with Watson and Howard.
He's a lock for first team, that's for sure. It depends how the rest of the season plays out. If nicholas keeps the pace up, we could have the ACC POY for 2 straight years.

What's so funny?
like you don't know...

please elaborate...
dahntay is not in top 3 in the POY running...(at least not at this point) sorry

howard
watson
hodge
nicholas
mccants

then maybe jones....if yopu think he has been more valuable than JJ....

You're off your rocker, buddy... after he lit you up for 26, I think you would know how good he is.

Dahntay is a MUCH better defender than ANY of those guys. No way Nicholas, Hodge and McCants are better candidates right now. Especially McCants... rookies don't win ACC POY.

Just to let you know, ACC POY is based on ACC play, not national play. So far, Dahntay is averaging 21 points in ACC play and has shut down Ed Scott (this sounds wrong, but I can explain) and Josh Howard, already.
i will not argue with you...but dahntay jones will not win ACC POY...

and dahntay may have "lit us up" for 26 pts, but he sure wasnt doing much else that day (defending that is)...

and just to let you know...the voters will remember that Dahntay's team lost to both Nicholas' and Hodge's repective teams...

By that time it will have been a split...
at least the thread hasn't turned personal yet
That sounds like an invitation for it to become so, SSJT.
who did dahntay guard in the maryland game?

Nicholas, Jamar Smith and Chris McCray, mostly Nicholas...

The problem with that game is that he was so concerned with his offense (he was the only scorer for us really) that he couldn't concentrate on his defense.
ah...I see
FWIW, Josh Howard deserves the POY right now. Duke would still be somewhere around 14-2 w/o him. Wake would be nowhere near 13-1 w/o Howard.

Duke would be somewhere around 14-2 without Dahntay?

IMO, w/o Dahntay, we're 12-4 at best right now. He is THAT good.
without Howard...wake is under .500

Nah... they'd be 9-5 IMO... he provides a lot, but w/o him, they still have some very good talent.

Unfortunately, he couldn't keep up with the defensive force ( ) that is Michael Joiner...sorry, but going 1/10 from the floor and fouling out won't get many POY votes outside Durham.
