"mr ford to call mr lee about this" is one notation on his account
"mr ford to come into some money" perhaps the most troubling statement on his account

He was included in a special program for "no disconnect" even though he has declared bankruptcy 3 times with MLGW as one of his creditors, and the program is not availble to businesses (E.H. Ford Mortuary).

The arrogance of some of our "leaders" in this community is beyond contempt!

I am so glad the FBI is finally involved. We should erect (there's that word again ;-) ) a park to whoever made the first call to get them involved into the Memphis political system. They can peel this onion for years to come.

He also just happened to be chair of the MLGW committee..... hmmmm

I believe that is part of the mayor's plans for the fairgrounds

How long before the mayor is implicated in something....I wonder.

It's just a matter of time...I just hope it's late summer/early fall in the middle of his campaign.

Since he appointed Joseph Lee to MLGW, I'm wondering if he's tied in with this. BUT, I don't see him doing any favors for a Ford, either, so who knows?
City Councilwoman calls for Council investigation of MLGW

City Councilwoman and Mayoral candidate Carol Chumney has written to MLGW's President and CEO demanding he present all documents pertaining to Edmund Ford's utility agreements to the Council's subcommittee on utilities when next they meet in March.

Her request follows reports today that Ford, one of two councilmen recently indicted on bribery charges, was allowed to delay payment on more than $16,000 in utility bills owed for a business he owns. The non-payment was apparently allowed by the utility as part of its On Track program for ratepayers with special needs; the program is not supposed to support business owners.

Chumney has also written to Council Chairman Tom Marshall requesting an independent counsel be appointed to investigate the matter for the Council.

Earlier this week, Marshall himself requested the utility bills of all elected Shelby County leaders.

We are working on this story today and will have the latest on Action News 5 at 5 and 6 pm.

Interesting, fuzzy. Where did that come from?

well, this got taken care of quickly!

Council hires lawyers to investigate MLGW

Memphis City Council Chairman Tom Marshall says the Council has officially hired independent counsel to do a full and thorough investigation of current policies in place for deferment and non-payment of utility bills to determine if these policies were violated by any member of the City Council, any city official, any board member or any employee of MLGW and then to report back to the Council their findings.

The second phase of the request is that the attorneys offer recommendations to prevent future transgressions.

The indpendent counsel will be Saul Belz and Oscar Carr with Glankler Brown, PLLC.

We'll have the very latest on Action News 5 at 5pm and 6pm.
The Fords and King Willie are untouchable. They have brainwashed their voting base. Its never gonna change. You put one in jail another will get elected.

If King Willie had nothing to do with this MLGW list fiasco, I can assure you he will hang his "friend", Joseph Lee, out to dry in order to win the next Mayoral election...Willie's only true friend is the person he sees in the mirror every morning...finding a new head of MLGW is the least of his concerns.
