After testing his right knee in full contact for the first time, Florida State tailback Greg Jones downplayed the development.

"It's another step closer," Jones said. "That's all it is."

Jones made sharp cuts but did not take any direct hits to his knee in the 20-minute scrimmage at the end of Friday's morning workout. He carried on zone plays and straight draws up the middle.

"He seemed to handle it pretty good - let them hit him a little bit," FSU coach Bobby Bowden said.

Jones missed the final five games last season and was held out of spring practices after tearing his ACL at Wake Forest on Nov.2.

"It's one of those things you don't want to fear because we're not going to put him in unless we think it's well," Bowden said. "Yet you're still conscious of it, and I'm sure he is."

That's true. Jones, who rushed for 938 yards last season, admitted he still has some lingering doubts.

"I'm still second-guessing myself a little bit," Jones said.
