Billy Preston died today. For those that don't know and are interested, google Billy and see all of his musical contributions.
RIP Billy, you should have been a Memphian....your music fit the Volt/Stax/Hi mold perfectly.

Nothin' from Nothin' Leaves Nothin'

Will it Go Round in Circles

You Are So Beautiful

Never Gonna Say Goodbye
"That's The Way God Planned It" wasn't too shabby either. Billy certainly had that soulful groove.
I'm surprised how many people don't know that he played on several Beatels albums. What a great artist. Sad to lose him.

Billy was oftentimes refereed to as..........the fifth Beatle.
Spent a lot of good times dancing, listening and grooving to Mr Preston's songs.
RIP

I saw a special on the Beatles where he was interviewed and he was saying that the Beatles were pretty cool in that they let him play what he wanted instead of telling him what to play. His riff on Get Back was an example.

That's The Way God Planned It was absolutely my favorite Billy song. His others were great but there was something about that song that would get you going. I can still see him with his big afro doing that song on Saturday Night Live and it was priceless.
i concur!

I thought that was Eddie Murphy.
Saw him with Three Dog Night and Black Oak Arkansas at what I believe was the first concert ever at the Liberty Bowl. Great Show.

I was at that concert in 1972, I believe. Preston and Black Oak were great. We left in the middle of 3DN.
