That would be great now wouldn't it?

So write your congressman, rep, senator, whomever. Somebody in Tennessee needs to do something to get Tennessee added to the states that Southwest can fly to out of Love Field in Dallas. People in Memphis need to show the politicians that they really want this. Or you can just do it for me.

I'm tired of flying to Little Rock.

Missouri, Mississippi, and Alabama have done it, where the hell is Tennessee at?
Nashville has Southwest
I heard we could thank Northwest for the absence of Southwest in Memphis.

Aren't you going to tell him there is an "appropriate forum" for this discussion?

Panic I would love for southwest to fly here from love but the restriction is on the Texas side not Tennessee. Flights from Love must be to border states of Texas so even if they did fly to Memphis you would have to have one stop on the way. At least that is my understanding of it.
I want Jet Blue to memphis. I'm sick of paying NWA high fares when I come to tiger games and events.
What does NWA do for our university? Have they pledged towards a new performing arts center or on-campus arena?

Tennessee is working on it. Mississippi got the exemption because of Trent Lott. Kansas got an exemption because of Bob Dole. I wish Frist would push it for Tennessee.

However, even if Tennessee has an exemption, that doesn't mean SWA is going to be flying into Memphis.

So does Raleigh, but old Herb was in town a few months ago , talking about how SW wants to come to Charlotte asap. USAir can only hold on so long...

I actually never thought that Memphis would be a destination, but is Northwest really in a position to bargain anymore?

Tupelo or Tunica would be great.

A direct flight to Nashville would be great too, a lot of family up there also.

I understand the Wright amendment just fine. It's actually not Texas that restricts it, it is DALLAS and DFW airport.

A lot of states have been pushing them through to getting added to the list of direct flight states by going through their congress. Tennessee should be doing the same, and I hear that they might be.
I've heard for quite some time that SW is working on Tunica...the PanAm Clipper flights to Atlanta are the starting off point for commercial flights out of there.

I'm talking about the doing away of the Wright Amendment in Dallas. If you want to fly anywhere other than a state that borders Texas out of Dallas, you have to go through Houston or Austin first, which basically doubles the price of the ticket, making it useless to use Southwest in Dallas.

Nashville has it, but only if you go through Houston first.

I've heard that Southwest has been blowing hot air at Charlotte-Douglas for awhile. Jet Blue is coming.

I think the USAir merger with the western airline (drawing a blank) will keep it viable.
SW is now flying out of DFW too but the flights seem to be higher $$.
I don't know where to, where's Dallas Tiger when you need him?

P.S> It was America West that US Air merged with.

O.K. thanks for clearing it up.

Panic, you are in Dallas aren't you?

You can fly Mesa Airlines to Jonesboro. 2 and half hour flight time. Jonesboro is a lot closer than LR and to be nice the airport, is uh, easy to get in and out of :)

My wife and I started doing that route instead of flying into LR. Plus you get can Mesa out of DFW instead of having to drive all the way to Love.
I'm flying into Memphis via Orlando in August on Northwest...which I consider the worst airline ever. Is there a petition anywhere to help bring Southwest to Memphis?
MEM isn't shy about their interest in either SWA or Jetblue or both. I can see SWA going to Tunica, and MEM getting Jetblue. Who knows . . . if NWA continues to struggle and reduces MEM, maybe Jetblue will see a need for a southern hub.

Also, it would be awesome if that former FedEx exec could get her airline started (I think it was Victory?) and BASE IT HERE.

Rumors are that when Northwest pilots have layovers, they visit the performing arts center on Mt. Moriah and leave a buck here and there.
SW would be great, but it is not 100% now though --- AirTran has been nice for me to come home.
SouthWest, the trailer park of the sky.

This is SouthWest's new slogan and in my opinion, it is very appropriate.
