why is rashad the only heel wearing jordan's?

(i know this pic kinda sucks, but its those shoes, but with white as the main color and a black "stripe")

why does rashad have such a bad attitude?

why do we take so many 3's? we are not a 3 point shooting team!

why must vitale talk about how great dook is every 5 minutes?

overall i thought we played ok the first half and not very well the second half, we definitely should have won this game. oh well, its most definitely better than losing by 40,
It was better than I expected (I really though we'd lose by double-digits). This team has not gotten over that hump to get a big road win, and I'm not going to expect a big road win until they do.

FTR, I would consider a big road win this year to be over dook, Wake, Maryland, Tech, or State (this year, at least). Kentucky would've also been a big road win. FSU, Clemson, and UVa are games I'd love to see us win -- but they wouldn't necessarily mean we've gotten that monkey off our backs.

Onward and forward. This team still is still in the middle of a tough stretch, and it would help our confidence to get a huge win over UConn this weekend. That game's not really that big in the overall scheme of things this year -- being an OOC game and all -- but it would give us confidence going into the FSU road game. I think beating the #1 team would really help these guys mentally.

This team is an outside shooter away. See JamesOn Curry and JR. I honestly think we will get into the NCAA's, make the sweet 16, bring everyone back next year and contend for the NC. Remember, we are still very young. It is nice to go into a win thinking we have a chance. It has been a while since I felt that.
Add in the fact that Noel and Jawad have been injured, this team has done OK. I do think the lack of a true center is going to show against UCONN.

It could be a lot worse...........it could be Packer.
Amen to that Doh. I just ignore Vitale. He loves Duke because they win.
Dick Vitale is flat out awful.

You woulda thought that with all the years Packer spent with Thacker he would have learned something. I guess he's my least favorite commentator---especially ACC games. Packer is always for whoever is winning.

Hey Hoops,

I think it was a brown Chevy SUV of some kind passed me last night. It's tag read "HOOPS 15".........any relation to you? Older brother maybe?

Nope that wasn't me. While I've had my license for a while, I don't have a car of my own to drive. If pigs ever fly and I do get a car maybe I will make a license plate that says something regarding UNC hoops.
I really don't know what to think. I've got mixed feelings. I thought we were going to be unstoppable this year....flat out dominant. There is no doubt we can play at the highest level (see Georgia Tech game) because we have a solid amount of talent, but we have yet to find game-to-game consistency. I've been brought back down to earth. The guys are making big strides, but two things cracked like an egg upon my head recently: 1) The ACC is very very good 2) Home court advantage is HUGE. Going into the Maryland game I thought we would win by 14+. Now, we lost and I look back and think: "Well, Jawad wasn't full strength, it was in College Park, Gary Williams is a great coach, we are in a tough stretch of our schedule, etc." But part of me is screaming, "Why isn't Rashad scoring like last year? Why doesn't Raymond just take over the other team's point guard? We gave them the game with our foolish plays down the stretch." In all honesty, my feelings are so mixed. One thing I can say for certain: I have not been sure what to think about Rashad the last two years. I've defended him a lot, but last night it just became so clear to me. It isn't a shot for or against him, but I've come to think that he has nothing upstairs. I am dead convinced that it isn't an ago or an attitude. After that last play, I've come to the conclusion that he just isn't bright at all and has no knowledge whatsoever of right or wrong. In any case, I don't want to keep rambling. I will be pulling hard for our guys against UConn on Saturday. I think we could gain a lot of momentum from this game if we can manage a victory. Then we have some easier games leading up to Duke. This stretch of games is very much like something we will see come March.
hoops,

One thing to keep in mind before you make up your mind about Rashad or Raymond or any of the other guys: they're just sophomores.

I guarantee you Rashad won't make that mistake again (reaching over the line) anytime soon. You'd like for that to never happen, but some guys just need to be in that type of situation and learn from their mistake. Rashad is going through a bit of a sophomore slump -- and so are the other sophs, really. May comes up big one game and then struggles a bit the next. For all intents and purposes, he's still a freshman in ACC play. Raymond needs to learn how to make things happen in a halfcourt set. All three guys need to learn to play better defense.

I think this year will really be a growing experience for us as a team. We've been a herky-jerky group of players the past two years... but it's been awhile since we played as a team. One thing you can definitely say about Roy: he'll have these guys playing as one unit at the end of the year. And, if we still can't make anything happen at that point, then it just wasn't meant to be.
