The Arizona State Sun Devils made it a clean sweep over Florida State on Sunday, with an easy 12-6 win.  Seven FSU pitchers combined for 15 walks in the game, and Seminole batters struck out seventeen times.

The altered FSU lineup, with Matt Sauls leading off, Ryne Malone at first base, and Shane Robinson hitting ninth, didn't quite provide the spark the Seminoles were looking for.  While Florida State did  manage nine hits, all of them were singles.

Mark Sauls (0-1), made his first start of the season, and took the loss, lasting only three innings.  Sauls gave up four hits, three runs, and four walks, and struck out just one batter.  Tyler Chambliss, Brian Chambers, Matt DiBlasi, DiCarlo Thompson, Hunter Davis, and reserve shortop Brandon Manasa all saw time on the mound for the Seminoles.  It should be noted that the only pitcher to get a three-up/three-downinning in the game was Manasa.

After finding themselves in a 3-0 hole after the first inning, the Seminoles got one run back in the top of the third when Robinson walked, stole second, moved to third on a single by Matt Sauls through the left side, and scored on Eddy Martinez-Esteve's first of three singles of the game.

The Sun Devils got that run back, plus three more in the fourth inning off of Chambers and DiBlasi.  ASU then picked up another un in the fifth off of Thompson, before Florida State scratched for three runs in thesixth inning.

Gibbs Chapman and Bryan Zech began the sixth inning with back to back walks, and Malone singled to centerfield, to load the bases with noouts.  Aaron Cheesman drew a walk to force in Chapman, before Robinsonsingled in both Zech and Malone to cut the Arizona State lead to 8-4. Matt Sauls, Stephen Drew and Martinez-Esteve then all struck out to end the inning.  Arizona State got one of those runs back in the bottom half of the inning off of Davis.

FSU's last gasp came in the seventh frame when Danny Wardell, Zech, and Cheesman all walked to load the bases.  A throwing error by the Sun Devil firstbaseman then allowed Wardell and Zech to score  unearned runs.  With two runners on base, Drew grounded out to end the Seminole rally.

Arizona State wasn't happy with a 9-6 win, so they tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning off of Chambliss to make the final score 12-6.

Florida State fell to 2-3 on the year while the Sun Devils improved to 3-0.  FSU plays next on Saturday at home against the Jacksonville Dolphins, followed by a game at JU on Sunday.  Game times for both daysare 2:00.
