Fred Coleman @ Wooddale? Is he being recruited? At what level can he play?

Wooddale played White Station tonight. After losing the first time to Wooddale, WSHS won by 18 tonight.

Coach Johnson took Coleman out in the 2nd quarter and left him on the end of the bench for the remainder of the game. (???)

Fred seemed to be confused on the bench, and unhappy (understatement) after the game.
This is from a mid D1 college coach(OVC), he's a classic tweener, not big enough to be a D1 post, not skilled enugh to be a D1 swing player. He most likely will be a CBU level player. Which, when you realize how their students are recruited by employers, you realize it's a great situation.
It doesn't take much to get in Johnson's dog-house.
Thanks, for the information, Keith, you are a wonderful resource for this board. Coleman runs the baseline for them, rebounds, and dunks (emphatically). That's really all I've seen him do, that is why I was wondering.

On Johnson...He impresses me. The first time these two teams played, Woodale took an early 4 pt lead. Because WSHS was being hurt by penetration they went zone. Johnson pulled it out and waited until Pitino went back to man. Johnson spread the floor and ran an offense with the 3 quick little guards he has, until one was able to beat his defender and get a layup or dish to Coleman for a dunk.

What impresses me so much is that he can take a bunch of street balling Memphis Kids and get them to play such a disciplined game of basketball. Since there is no shot clock, Johnson was able to do what he needed to do to use his advantages and win the game. It was the old North Carolina 4 corners offense. Boring, but beautiful.

Discipline is definitely the thing with him. You play his way or you don't play at all. Even in the JV game (where an assistant was head coach) he wound up on the bench screaming at some of the players. I don't know if I'd want my kid playing for him (because he's so volitile) but he knows what he is doing. BTW, my kid had 21 in the JV game.
Johnson might be the best X and O HS coach in town.
I was blessed to sit with coach Johnson at an AD meeting on Monday. He knowledge of the game is amazing.
