Drew to explore enrollment possibilities
By Steve Ellis
TALLAHASSEE DEMOCRAT STAFF WRITER

Stephen Drew will meet with Florida State academic officials on Thursday regarding the possibility of enrolling in class.

FSU baseball coach Mike Martin confirmed that Drew is seriously considering playing his senior season at FSU instead of signing with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Drew was selected by Arizona in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft.

"We're very close to having a totally different ballclub than we did a yesterday," Martin said. "It would give us an opportunity to be a solid club."

Sports agent Scott Boras left a message with the Tallahassee Democrat on Wednesday to say he is serving only as an advisor to Drew, which is allowed under NCAA rules.

Drew hit 17 home runs for FSU last season.

He has until midnight Thursday to register during drop-ad sessions of registration. Once Drew attends class, he can no longer negotiate with the Diamondbacks.

It would be GREAT for the Seminole Baseball team to have Stephen Drew back in the lineup!!! :D 04-rock

FSU Baseball has received an early Christmas present as shortstop
Stephen Drew will return to school. WCTV has learned that Drew is
expected to be on campus in Tallahassee on Thursday to enroll in
classes. Drew was the 15th overall selection in the first round of the
Major League Baseball Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Drew and the
team have been far off on negotiations, and talks have faltered since
the Diamondback front office changed hands. FSU students have until
Friday to register for fall classes. Drew's return for his senior year
will bolster the Seminole lineup and give Mike Martin his star shortstop
for one more season. Drew will re-enter the MLB draft after the upcoming
college baseball season.
