It sure seems to me many posters went off the deep-end on the Thad Young saga. I do not think many would like the reputation of this University soiled by innuendo and hearsay. I personally do not know which, if any, university did what, legal or illegal--but I bet neither do the majority of the posters who made disparaging accusations. Initially Arkansas received the attacks and even when Thad signed with Tech, the intelligent reply was that "cockroaches scatter when the lights come on." From what little I know (or more accurately, read) was while many in Memphis and in Arkansas assumed Thad was going to Arkansas, that the kids at Thad's school were pretty accurate in stating Thad would go to Tech. This may have been a last minute change, but it doesn't seem it was. So while it may fuel Easterwood's ego that he helped prevent Thad from going to Arkansas or wherever by exposing whatever he thought he was exposing and it may make some Memphis fans happy that Thad is not going to an SEC school or Arkansas either one--but it looks to me that it just makes many of the Memphis fans appear envious of certain programs and the SEC.
Yes. We're so very envious of Arkansas.
Dburger,

more will come out down the line about all of this......fact is Keith was telling of this story over a year ago, so it is not something he just made up.......

also, just read the quotes in today's article and also read the timeline and inconsistencies in statements on the recruiting forum......

even Mitchell's AD admits that Raveling sent a runner to see Team Thad members......why would he do that?

I know you want to think that everything was on the up and up, but the circumstances, statements, and facts so far prove anything but that.......

No he doesn't. It's sour grapes on his part.

Yes, we are so envious of SEC basketball.

You pegged us.

We can't stand it when Cal says things like, "We don't need the SEC."

Even though Memphis would rank 3rd in the SEC in NCAA tourney appearances, we still grovel before all fans of all SEC schools.

BTW, outside of Duke and Kentucky, poor ol' worthless Memphis appeared on national TV last year more than any other school in the nation.

I love it when SEC fans open their mouths and remove all doubt!
Dburger = whineburger ???

tigersargh
That would imply that Jeff knows how to use a computer. Last I checked, He was still going outside everyday checking his Mailbox for Email.
How do these idiots continually find their way onto this board. 03-confused
Sorry to have struck a nerve, but since I am called an idiot and insulted by others for stating an opinion other than the party line, I will assume that it was missed that I did not state that anyone was guilty or innocent in the recruitment process--I only expressed concern that a lot of conjecture was being made without the benefit of facts. I believe that I said these types of rants made the poster appear jealous. I did not say who was or wasn't jealous--maybe the witty responses clarified who was!

How does disgust with a seemingly shady process equate to jealousy?
Nothing wrong with wanting a level playing field--but after Thad's announcement more than one poster's response was "at least he didn't go to Kentucky or Arkansas". Near as I know Kentucky was not accused of cheating--so I gathered (correctly or incorrectly that there was some animosity toward the SEC).

OK, now I follow you.

I felt the same way about Arkansas but it was not out of jealousy. We have a history with Arkansas. There was a bitter rivalry in the nineties and they have a history of success getting recruits to leave Memphis and that is not something I want to see start up again. I could have cared less if he went to Kentucky.

What a crock.

Your coming over here slaming Easterwood?

Troll.

You have no credibility.

Go C-USA!

You should be. We have been to more Sweet 16's, Elite 8's and more Final 4's than Memphis....oh, and the fact that Arkansas has a National Championship and Memphis doesn't.

Yeah, I guess I would be envious, too. :own3d:
No jealousy here. Arkansas is a fine school with a rich history. That being said, so is Memphis.
I'm envious of the BCS welfare check they've been receiving lately. Pretty soon they are going to pass Mississippi and be in Vandy's league as far as getting the big check for nothing more than associating with the cartel, not helping secure its existence.
