This had been a very tiring process for Thad. The last few days I can count on one hand the times I have seen TY smile. Friday I talked to Thad and prayed with him that he makes the best decision for HIM and nobody else. Thaddeus made the choice.

If you would look back at all the things that TY said you would noticed that HE never said anything negative about Coach Cal or the Uof M. He really likes Cal and loves Memphis. As we talked on last night he just liked GT and CPH better. Despite what you read in the papers TY had Memphis involved until the end. Georgia Tech academics played a big part is his decision. During his visit he spent a lot of time with their academic staff.

I would have loved for TY to attend Uof M. That would have allowed me to see most of his college games. But for me to use that to factor into his decision it would have not been fair to TY. It would have been nice to see him play with PN and WK. KE knows how well they play together. Coach Cal done a great job recruiting TY and the radio people do not know what they are talking about.

I will admit that am not pleased about certain things that happened during this process. People made statements to the press that should have not been made. The adults allowed TY not to enjoy the process.

This board has allowed me to share with you all some personal insight concerning a fine young man. I will continue to post on this board because I like sports and sports discussion. I know some of you have a problem with me posting but have always attempted to be fair and treat all of you with respect. If my posts or actions have offended anyone on this board I apologize. I do have a hidden agenda when it comes to TY. I want to be happy and come and give back to this community who loves him so much. Thad has made a choice. PLEASE do not talk bad about someone wanting to continue their academic and athletic career away from Memphis.

In closing I will continue to cheer for the Tigers. My best friend will be on staff next year if he does not take a position with the Grizzlies. I hope I am still invited to Pig gate. I love the friendships that were formed through MemphisTigers.org.
Galilee, the board and the press only blew up when Felton Young made his black coach statement. Prior to that, most of it had been kept under wraps. Team Thad has nobody to blame but themselves for this. They acted out of greed and didn't cover their tracks. Their actions are despicable on their own but mainly because they put Thad at great risk.

Georgia Tech is a good school in a good league. I wish Thad luck. Having said that, I hope the the whole situation blows up. These things usually take a couple of years so Thad will be in the NBA and will be unharmed.

Everyone else in the process will pay the price - and they will deserve it.

Of course you are.

The ones throwing stones, quite frankly, only have the balls to do so from the safety of their laptops.

You'll never find them at Pig-gate.

These are the very reasons some of us are taking this so hard.

If none of the Arkansas or George Raveling stuff had come out and TY had simply chosen GT I dont think you would be seeing any of the negative stuff you are seeing, but then again if the stuff is true and it never came out he would probably have announced for Arkansas. Either way, I dont think any of the negativity is directed at TY.

How can you blame us for being angry when there were forces that by all appearences were going out of their way to see that Memphis did not have a fair shot at TY? You may not have been part of that but with all the hoopla caused by team Thadd and the conflicting information comming out from various people involved it is hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys.
I can understand you being angry just do not take it out on TY. Blame the adults who should have kept the dumb comments out of the press.

Deal. 04-cheers
Gaililee, it doesn't help none when dummies like Chris Vernon/Gary Parrish are having fun talking about Cal can't get the cities top players because they see the negatives about the cities and the programs. Gary said this is what he took from TY. When Ty is in the barbershop, people talk negatively about the univerisity and city. That is why players go away. We got a highly ranked Shawne William!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thad should not have given them an interview. Coach Johnson never should have made his statements also about no ties to Memphis/not from Memphis. Neither do/am I but I have grown to love the city and the program. Go Tigers!!

you can give the academic crap a rest...we all know he's one and done...he'll never ever get a degree, so don't come on here and insult us by saying that GT's business school swayed him. but GT is a good fit for ty and team thad...yellow seems to be their color.

tigersargh
Galilee, only the most reactionary posters are directing anything at TY. Most of it has been correctly at his unethical father and his brood of "advisors".

As for TY, if he truly made his decision for him and only him, that's fine. But history does not bode wll for local prep stars who leave if they plan on coming back to Memphis and have a social impact. Not to say it can't happen, but it never has, unlike those who stay to play here. TY made a short sighted decision if he really plans on coming back to Memphis after he finishes his basketball career.

I'm cool with you. Thanks for "manning up" on this story. My frustration revolved around the multiple posts on several boards. You admitted that it was probably a mistake.

The adults were the problem. I have been saying this all along. You did the best you could do.
Felton Young and Kenny Carter must burn..

i have read several of these post/threads since getting in from work and SETH.. you seem pretty bitter...

FWIW, let it go. Thad has to be happy that this is over and for him I'm also elated that it's over. Not that I'm glad he won't be a tiger but I'll take his comments at face value that he's happy of his decision if nothing else in this matter. It seems to me that you're wishing bad things on people and you knwo what goes around comes around. Just food for thought and I've said this is another post last week: what if Thad doesn't sign his L.O.I. in November???

Could we have a dilema on our hands? He's not obligated to do so ya know? He could be reading this message board and seeing all the LOVE & NO LOVE from TIGER FANS. Stranger things have happen... remember, an oral commitment is JUST what it is.
Get over it Seth.

I haven't wished anything bad to those who don't deserve it Ernest..I am just expressing some sour grapes....We were slapped in the face by Felton Young and co.

Galilee, we do agree on one statement you made, "The adults allowed TY not to enjoy the process", instead of pointing out the adults that were on the radio, you never once pointed out the stupid statement his father made and how he and the uncle conveniently showed up after the national acclaim. You know how TY and his mother are living, where was the million dollar uncle when they where struggling, could allow your nephew to live the way TY and his mother are living and not help. I never have been negative toward TY, I hope personally he stays longer than one year and enjoy college life, especially in Atlanta. My problem has always been with the adults who saw nothing but dollar signs when it came to this young man. Some on the board say I have an axe to grind against you, they may be right because as a minister of the Gospel, the supposedly spiritually mature one in this whole process, you abuse your authority as an AD, but most importantly as a Pastor, while others may want proof, you know what you did wrong in this process, to portray yourself as totally innocent in the process has been the real crime. Like I told you before, '"what's done in the dark will eventually come to light".
Galilee ........... I wish him well in his endeavors in Atlanta.

Interesting on Channel 3 News reporting on the press conference.

Thad intimated to the reporter that Coach Cal had done well recruiting him; but that there were 3 players already on Memphis campus at Thad's position.

If you are conceivably only going to play one year of College and then jump to the NBA then you'd want plenty of playing time.

His Dad was saying if it wasn't for the new NBA Rule concerning age; then Thad would've been a Lottery Pick.

Maybe; maybe not!!! Shawne Williams who plays a similar position and was by many accounts as highly rated; wasn't a lottery pick or first rounder at all!!!!

If Thad is as interested in an education as has been reported; then the best possible thing for him is to get his degree in four years at Georgia Tech.

I hope he does get his degree first. If he's as good as he thinks the NBA will be there.

Seth.....it's just basketball....lol
TY is a prince of a kid, there's not enough good things you can say about him. I don't regret one thing that was said on the radio, just as we can't blame TY for what some adults have said or done on his behalf, you can't direct my comments to TY when they were meant for the above mentioned adults.
JRox, Vernon and Parrsh had good points.

You're always welcome there my friend.
