Galillee posted on another thread that TY is secluded inside his house. All of this garbage is wearing thin. The kid doesn't want to come out of the house.
I asked Galillee to please go and get Thad out of the house. Do you remember what Darius Washington Sr. did for D Wash? Life is full of ups and downs. Tough love is the ingredient that he needs. Parents ( absentee and others) should never try to re-live their lives through their children. It always ends up disastrous.
Suppose TY was your kid. This is supposed to be fun time in his life. Would you want all of this bantering and/or venom radiating all over this board?
If TY chooses to go elsewhere, I will still walk up to him and congratulate him on his decision. I will still think he is a great player. Most of all, I will still love and support the kid.
I'm strongly convinced that this is much ado about nothing. He will be with us. If I'm wrong, attack me, ridicule me, call me names, boast about my lack of credibility. I don't think you will get the chance. Just leave the kid alone!!!
After today, please no more stuff about this subject. Let's get it off our chest today.

My stepson is 23. His dad was never involved from day 1.
I don't know if it's worse to lose your father or to never have one. I think probably the latter.
I say this because I think I might have an understanding of some of the feelings TY is going thru now. Just over the weekend something came up about my stepson's dad and to this day it still hurts him.
As if this decision TY has before him isn't hard enough, then his dad compounds it.
I don't blame him for wanting to get away from it all.
From what I have read (and I have not read all of the posts) the problems is with his dad, not Thad. I think it is safe to say that everybody wants him to do what he feels he should. We would love for him to stay home and play but if he wants to go to KY or GT, I wish him well and wish him the very best. Just go out there and make your hometown proud like we all know you will.
I think he has way to many people in his ear right now.

You know, some people really have problems with athletes. They tend to HATE on them because they are supposed to be dumb and things are allegedly given to them that others don't get. Don't mention the girls they meet and their celebrity status they may attain. When they walk in the room and a girl you have eyes on is eying the athlete. That would make me pretty angry. I TOO WOULD BECOME A HATER HAD I NOT BEEN AN ATHLETE. :laugh:

People miss and even skip school for much less than having their father blasted in the media. Leave him alone. If he were one of his teamates , would you even care if he took a day off? Probably not.

I can't understand your cynicism. There are thousands of kids who skip school everyday to deal with emotional trauma. These are teenagers, children and young people that we are talking about.
Don't hate the player, hate the game. This kid is hurting. The depth of your soul should allow for some compassion.
