This is a game we should win, considering it's at home. That doesn't mean we will, though.
I'm worried that too many people are conceding this one to the Heels due to Elder's injury. Even some Tech fans are saying an "upset" is highly improbable. This is just setting us up for a huge disappointment.
Part of my worry stems from the "look-ahead" factor with the Wake game this weekend. That one is an in-state rivalry, and would be a huge conference road win. I think both sides are looking to that one to see if they can duplicate the fireworks from last year's triple-overtime classic.
The fact that this is Tech, though, should keep the looking ahead from happening. We've dropped our last two to Tech, and didn't look particularly good doing it. I would almost have to contend that our loss in Atlanta last year was our worst game of the season. Perhaps the Clemson game would be worse -- considering the competition -- but it seems to be that we were down by double digits almost the entire game in Atlanta.
Tech will be the best defensive team we've seen this year, by far. Elder's injury has little effect on that aspect of the game. They also still have enough parts to keep the offensive machine running in Elder's absence.
I think this one will be a lot closer than people expect. We'd better bring our A game tonight....
