They won thier first 3 games in the tournament are playing in the the AAC championship game today againist Montreat. The game is at Kings place. Bad news is Montreat has beaten them twice this year both times by double digits. They have won 6 in row and 14 of last 15 (loss was to Montreat )Still all and all not a bad first year for Pitts.
But they have
I hope to God they lose...that way I dont have to hear Bill Meade compare them to Duke.
King Wins.
I had listened to the George Pitts Show last week.

And folks, after hearing that, I had to ask if anyone has ever heard a long term interview with this guy.

Had Pitts just taken cold medicine to make him drowsy?

I don't care what the guy has done on the lower levels- Science Hill, Brentwood Academy, or King College.

To think he would have the media skills to coach at a Division I college is absurd!

Yeah you want someone to look good in front of the camera, who cares if they can coach.

Come on, Rod. You're smarter than that.

Media Relations are a MAJOR part of a coach's success.

Media Relations is the difference between why Jim Leyland is so highly regarded after four winning seasons in 11 years with the Pirates that he can throw away four years on a contract to manage the Florida Marlins for big bucks- and why Walt Harris slinks to Stanford after leading Pitt to the Fiesta Bowl.

Media Relations are why we think of Dennis Green as a good coach- despite a playoff record that Marty Schottenheimer would be ashamed of.

Locally, Media Relations are why Ed DeChellis probably wasn't thought of as highly as he should have been here. When he was losing early- it didn't do anything in his favor when he showed up for his TV show wearing sweats.

If Pitts ever went to a Division I college- and at his age now he won't- but if he did- he would come across as a Gerry Faust.

Remember how good he looked after coming from high school to Notre Dame? Ah, yes, the sweatshits and rubbing his nose on camera.

He LOOKED like a high school coach- AT NOTRE DAME! No wonder the program sank so much!

Same thing would have happened to Pitts. Here- there- or anywhere.
King lost in the first round of the NAIA tournament to the Walsh, the 7th ranked team in the NAIA poll and the 8th seed in the tournament 78-69.
It was a 2 point game with 7 minutes left before Walsh pulled away a bit down the stretch. King ended the season at 23-11. Not a bad first year and I noticed they have signed a kid from Twin Springs for next year who was big time scorer.

Hate to see that Dockery chose King. He would have gotten a better education by going to UVa-Wise for either football or basketball.

UVa-Wise is nationally ranked as a U.S. News and World Report top 10 public liberal arts college.
I don't blame the kid though. Sometimes ya just want to win, and I'm sure being from Nickelsville that Bristol will seem like Atlanta by comparison.
I still don't believe Pitts would win at the D-1 level, but I am happy for King and their showing.
I read that Pitt said he wanted to sign 3-4 more kids this year even though he didn't have any seniors on his 14 man roster this year. Be interesting to see how many players he has next year and how many come back.

I also noticed Shane Williams a former player of his (and 2 year starter at Tennessee) is an assistant coach.
