Great place to vent these boards are, and first, congrats to the women for lighting it up... School record broken today, all in all good times...
The bad and A FINGER OF SHAME TO THE BAND TODAY FOR PLAYING WHEN AN INJURED PLAYER IS ON THE COURT... I don't care what team they play for, it's a show of respect for a competitor who is on the ground, and any BAND DIRECTOR OR FREAKING BAND GEEK OUT THERE WHO HAS ANY INKLING TO WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON OUT THERE KNOWS YOU DON'T DO THAT... You guys suck enough as it is, atleast try to show some damn class when you're botching songs you ripped off from Tennessee. If you need pointers on what to do during timeouts, don't be afraid to ask band directors from other schools, you steal their ideas anyway... MORONS...
I'm not trying to debunk your point because u are right about not playing when a player is injured but the director had her back turned to the court before the horn even sounded so she couldnt see that there was a player down and, as sad as it is, most of the band wasnt paying attention to the game. But there were several of us (I say us because i play in the band) that were trying to get her attention to stop the band. I never started playing because i noticed the injured player as did several people around me.

As for your knocks on the band, most of them are valid but I would like to point out that, as I believe I have said before, the musicians that show up play their best but they are for the most part freshman and some are even still in HS. The quality of the band is not a result of lack of desire to be there and play well, it is due mostly to the fact that the scholarship band students have no desire to be in the showband.

So please dont insult the ones that are showing up and trying their best to entertain the crowd and players, instead direct your anger towards the ones that are too high and mighty to "waste their time" playing for a basketball game, especially a womens basketball game.
Well if you are in the band do us another favor, Stop playing all the damn time, Play when the guys come out during a break or two but give it and us a break during the half.

I say disband the band- and the entire music dept- in our shame for being the University that gave the world Kenny Chesney.

Not to mention the concept of the homosexual country star.

Just think- if there was no ETSU music dept.- we might be spared the horror that has been Brokeback Mountain.

And we could put the money into football!
Like I said, PAY ATTENTION TO THE BASKETBALL GAME! That is RULE NUMBER ONE IN BANDS, and it's actually a pre-requisite at other schools that the director/drum major have an understanding of the game to be the leader.
As for the rest of the group, I've never faulted the effort...
I can't stand Kenny Chesney's music as well, but to the general eye, he's viewed as one of our better graduates, even though the bastard doesn't care about ETSU.
Bands at basketball games are a part of the "experience" that is college basketball.
Claiming that ETSU's music dept. is at fault for the trainwreck that is Brokeback Mountain is like saying Bush is to be blamed for CAUSING Hurricane Katrina (like he had a little red button to push that says, Cat. 5 hurricane, destroy the gulf coast.)
JD LaRue doesn't get the joke!

Among other things . . .
I could careless about your humor, I care about my alma mater looking more and more foolish on a daily basis, and if this statement stops some of it, then great.
If you're interested in making your alma mater appear less foolish you might want to proactively discuss removing the athletic director and president and not this crazy ****.

As well as not attacking me. Because it only makes you look like a hillbilly and you don't come out on top.

It makes you appear as a shill who is just fine and dandy with the direction ETSU athletics have taken- band playing during injured players and all.

You may be uncomfortable with the "in-your-face" style, but the fact is it's time for it.
I have heard it mentioned several times on here that we play too much and i tend to agree but the director doesnt. Shes not interested in what I have heard other fans she say, she needs to be told directly. That is the only thing she will listen to. If any of you care about what you hear coming from us then please take a few minutes out of your day and call the music department and ask for Dr. Blackman. Im sure she will listen to what you have to say as long as it is said in a respectful manner. Help me out here I am doing all that I can.

Nah screw respectful maybe start a chant.. Shut the hell up when they start playing to much..
I believe in the eye of the public Chesney is a UT graduate. He is very careful to always wear the awringe T.

Seriously, I believe most folks outside this area have no idea he went to ETSU and many in this area believe he went to ut.
Hey, come to think of it I have always assumed that the guy with the fishin' show was a ut grad since he always has his awringe displayed, wonder if he ever saw the inside of a classroom in knoxville?

hmmm..
They'll be no Bill Dance bashing on this board.

There just won't be!

Bill didn't attend the University of Tennessee, although he was a close friend of former coach Johnny Majors and helped convince a young hot quarterback prospect named Randy Sanders from signing a scholarship with the University of Alabama. Sanders is now UT's offensive coordinator.Hmm maybe this was a bad thing) The "mesh" hats worn by Dance are available for sale in the University of Tennessee Bookstore. They are called "Bill Dance Hats."

Since the man was born in Lynchburg, Tennessee I can see why he is such a big fan.

but you have to like the guy he is really good friends with Terry Bradshaw.
I don't agree with Chesney's decision to not atleast acknowledge ETSU, but the guy grew up a UT fan. I just think he could have a happy balance of both.
JD claims to be so inside on everything he actually knows Kim Sams (in the biblical sense, Lover? Come on now. We want to know just what exactly that handle you chose means!) but doesn't acknowledge that Kenny Chesney has done spots for ETSU.

Why is it that nobody cares about ETSU or the area when they make it? You hear the same thing about Steve Spurrier and a host of others. Hell, half the lowlifes on here try to say the same thing about me.

My guess is petty jealousy of their success.

OH REALLY MR. SHAW???????

Let's see here. My dreams were to host a talk show on Myron Cope's station (done)- write for the Post-Gazette (done)- cover the Steelers (done)- and be a part of a Pittsburgh sports team's broadcasting team (done).

And my God, you STILL have thedoctor with his panties in a bunch over me- you respond to everything I say- and just like I built the old board, I have built this one.

Seems to me you're wrong again. Good luck collecting that $200 a day plus expenses.

The fact remains I did all that.

These goals conquered, I now search for my next one.

Such as therapy for my bombastic ego.
