GO HUSKIES!!!
The problem with the Big East....PAIR or lack of it.

Bowling Green plays OSU, Wisconsin (pair)
WMU tackles Florida State (pair)
Toledo signs 1 and 1 with Ohio State (pair)

The Big East will never be accepted as a true contender until they play true top 15 programs in their non confernce schedule.
The Big East played in 5 bowl games and won all 5 and that's out of 8 teams. I wouldn't be writing any requiems just yet.

We also have more picks than CUSA too.
Ryne Robinson just drafted by Carolina
In the 4th Round it's now BE 7 MAC 6.
That makes six MAC picks. Once Doug Free goes that will be seven. Looks like many underestimated the number of MAC draft picks this year (46% thought we'd have 5 or less).
Doug Free was just drafted by Dallas, 7 for the MAC.

Yeah, but look who they played......

WVU beat Georgia Tech
Louisville beat Wake Forest
Rutgers beat Kansas State
USF beat East Carolina
Cincinnati beat Western Mich.

They had very favorable matchups......none of those teams they beat are traditionally 10 win programs.

How many draft picks did the MAC have last year?

They also finished high in the final AP Poll:

#10 WVU

They played weak bowl opponents and weak non conference schedule as well.....the best BCS team played by any of those three in the OOC was a 7-6 Kansas St team.

No Ohio States, Michigans, Notre Dames, USCs, ect......

I also expect them to have 4 of their 8 teams ranked in the pre-season top 25. They probably don't care if an Ohio University fan respects that or not. They have some young talent. Yes, I know MAC teams start the season low in the rankings, but there's no way we get half our teams in the top 25. Heck, I'd be happy if Toledo, NIU, and BG could get back to the kind of play that got us 2 or 3 teams in the top 25 during a single season.
shows that these were really good signing classes of these teams 3 --in most cases with these players 4-- years ago. Bazuin and Staley were obviously gems, as was wolfe. 02-13-banana

i think even free went to niu as a te?

and two guys who could have been drafted if they were on a better team 04-chairshot or had seasons as they did two years ago in deslauriers and wellock were randoms too.

fun draft so far. i expect getsey to be taken today. also mormino (center from cmu) could be a flyer pick, same with the ohio middle linebacker muncey (if i remember his name correctly...) ;-)
You guys just need to ignore any posts by KC... he keeps going over to the BE board trying to sell everyone on Miami and Ohio and how they should be added to the Big East now. I think he actually believes that the fans on those boards have some sort of pull to add teams to the conference.

He talks about how both of those schools would make the Big East a big player, but without them the conference is nothing.

Yet again, you have to start reading my posts.

I said that adding a Miami or Ohio to the Big East would make a lot more sense than adding 1-AA UMass as some have suggested on that board......its more sensible for recruiting.

And I can tell you as sure as the sky is blue that the Big East has talked to a few MAC schools (Miami, Toledo, WMU for sure) and is at least intrigued by the possibilities.

If anything, I wouldn't believe what is being run out of MLB's mouth that MAC schools can't do this and MAC schools can't do that......and even MAC schools couldn't ever join the Big East due to their association in the MAC....its all BS.
epasnoopy Wrote:How many draft picks did the MAC have last year?

As near as I can tell, the MAC had 2 players go on day one and 4 on day two last year. In 2005 the MAC had 2 players go on day one and 8 on day two - 9 if you include Marshall.

I'm not sure there is much sense in adding MIA or OH and much less in adding UMass.

Cincy, among others, would have none of it even if BE was interested in expanding (which I doubt).
