With all the recent HC changes I've been trying to get a handle on the MAC HC salaries. any help would be appreciated:

Kent: Jim Christian $253,000 + potential for $63k from NCAA Tourny
Ohio: Tim O'Shea $192,456 (base)
Akron: Keith Dambrot, $190,000 signed new 5-yr contract 12/2006
Toledo: Stan Joplin $181,000 (base)
Ball State: Ronny Thompson $175,000 (& $20k per tournament win)
Buffalo: Reggie Witherspoon $175,000
BG: Louis Orr, $160,000 (5 Year Contract signed '07)
Miami: Charlie Coles, $155,470
WMU: Steve Hawkins, $150,000 (K runs through 09-10 season)

CMU: Ernie Ziegler ??? (hired 06)
EMU: Charles Ramsey ??? (hired 3/05)
NIU: Ricardo Patton ??? (hired 07)
I have not seen any contract numbers on Ricardo Patton anywhere. I believe Rob Judson was at $166,000+.
O'Shea reportedly earned around $250,000 for 2005-06 including contract incentives.

anybody have a clue on these guys?

CMU: Ernie Ziegler ???
EMU: Charles Ramsey ???
Toledo: Stan Joplin ???
NIU: Ricardo Patton ???
Joplin's base salary is $181,000, but I'm not sure how much he gets for doing his coaches show. He also gets bonuses for acedemic performance, post-season play, and attendance. He probably did well this year.

NIU is paying Patton $350k/year. Shows how serious we are about getting basketball on the right track.

Quote:Patton, whose salary is reportedly around $350,000 a year, isn’t afraid of dreaming big. He put up a banner in the locker room stating the program’s goal to win a national championship. Not a title in Division II or III, but Division I.

350K in the MAC is a bit out of line without winning 1 game at the the school. That's gonna make it hard for schools to re-sign guys as they would want a raise up the that level if they deliver a MAC title. Incentive clauses is the best way to do it. MAC doesn't have the kind of attendance for that kinda of $$$ in hoops.

Wow, $350,000 is high. Really high in comparison. That's just setting up for disappointment...
Charlie only makes $155k a year? I didn't realize that Fiami were such cheapskates. Give that man a raise!
I think that's NickSkin's point. CC is grossly underpaid- but Shane M is also the second lowest paid FB coach in college football.

Can't be worse than getting set up for disappointment with Judson. 03-banghead BTW, our AD is a real big b-ball guy so it is no surprise that he would try to make a splash and find a coach that has been successful to try to turn around what we and many on here think should be at the top of the MAC most years because of our location being close to Chicago and facilities. It isn't going to show this year apparently but I can see us improving each and every game. Once he gets his players in here and all the players are on the same page we should move up and be the b-ball program most of us think we should be. Though something tells me BSU will out recruit NIU for West Aurora players for several years to come. 03-wink
Miami is not only at or near the bottom of what it pays its head basketball coach, Miami pays its football coach the lowest in the MAC as well

Base Salaries (based on 2005 numbers)

1) Ohio, Frank Solich $249,672
2) NIU, Joe Novak, $212,496

4) Akron, JD Brookhard $182,500

I think with a coach of Patton's success and experience he deserves it. We deserve better basketball at NIU and i think we got ourselves a coach who will finally give it to us. I think it shows our commitment to wanting a good basketball program with the money we have invested into an arena and our new coach. Once our program gets to the level of success of NIU football there is no doubt in my mind that NIU could bring in 7-9k each game. Our fans have shown they will attend to watch a winning program.

Patton actually donated $50,000 of his salary before the season started to show his commitment to NIU. There are 50 floor seats in our arena. Patton said he would give $1,000 for each floor seat that was purchased. This was to get people to buy them with the thinking that once they come they will like what they see and purchase them again. We sold out all our floor seats as a result and there is a waiting list on the floor seats now.

Wait. We will get 7-9000 per game after winning 2 games? 05-duck

Any information on the length of Patton's contract? I have heard it may have been for 5 years.
