. . . and not going to Loyola as many thought he would stay close to home. Valpo still a possibilty but as previously posted "egos" can play a significant role. Particularly this time of year when there are so few scholarships available, most given, signed and returned in Novemeber. To not have one extended is a "slap".
Not that MJeffs kid is without cache to get his education.

McCammon, the kid that got the Loyola ship, not on par with Patrick Beverly who verballed Toledo, because he didnt play AAU in the summer, then busted on Sr. year and is now SEC frosh of year, did the same. Hit the books, worked on his game and opened eyes as the season (post early signing) progressed.

He is a good get, is Shawntee like, but longer.

Should it even be about a scholarship? It's not like MJ's kid needs a freebe.

If the ego is the issue, than send him to whatever ego driven school the family thinks is appropriate, and see if he can compete for minutes.
GBL, are you in favor of Hawkins offering him?
Hell no!

He's not a legit D-1 2G. Has average range, average quickness. Doesnt have Gary type hops to play the 3.

The best thing about having him on the team is that the old man shows up at the games. That would be good for another 500 people in the stands. Parents Day, his senior year would be a sellout.
No.

From all reports he is great kid.

But WMU could and should do better.

At this juncture we do not need a 2 or 3. A legit 4 or a 1 would work. If nothing to the staff's liking you just bank it for next year.

My overriding concern would be the health of Workman. Ankle/foot surgery is nothing lite. Hence the 4.

Unless the 1 would push to start, not just back up, I say bank it.
Hawkins has no hair now. Can you imagine how much hairloss J Jordan's coach will lose when he's got the weight of the proud papa up in the stands on his shoulders?

There will be so much outside pressure to play Jordan's son, I cant believe any college coach would want that.
I'm not saying 'WMU must sign him' -- but MJ and WMU in the same sentence for four years? To have MJ visiting Kzoo and all up in UA? Most of the country won't do all the reading between lines, they'll just hear/see MJ and WMU...

lol, let him sit on B Knight's bench!
Personally, I would rather see Hawkins go get another big man. Joe is going to be graduating and it would be nice to have a say a two year type of gap between the big men graduating. Senior to sophmore type of gap.
Think on the bright side. We sign Jeffrey, and his daddy springs for a brand spankin' new multi-million dollar arena for the Broncos!!

04-rock
what about Diarese Gary?
I think it comes down to Gary passing his ACT. He has a good GPA, but has yet to score high enough on his test.
