Oh for christ sake... I thought you meant Shawntes Gary
seriously, don't scare us like that.
Looks like he's likely to resurface at New Mexico

He's going to the wrong University Arena.
^^ Ugg... I HATE that message board format. It's so hard to follow and looks like it's right out of the 80s.
That's too bad - but I am sure that he made an educated desicion. He must be a hell of a player to not want to join his bro at WMU, talent level must be superior to MAC level.
Where in there does it state that Gary will become a Lobo. Sounds like the Lobo fans HOPE he'll become a Lobo, but I didnt see any difinitive proof that it will happen. I dont even think he's a full qualifier yet.
He's gotta be short on smarts if he picks Alford over Hawkins.
If Gary does not pass his ACT I'd still take him as a non-qualifier (Prop48). You'd lose a year of eligiblity, but he'd be worth it. The kid's not a bad student. I think if he takes it a few times he'll pass it.
Dam GB, I almost bit on that one. But now, I've seen this enough times to check it out before I pass out.
Gary Going To New Mexico

One of the areas top basketball players has decided to change his mind and play basketball for an Indiana Legend.

Dairese Gary had originally signed with Iowa, but when Steve Alford decided to leave and take the New Mexico job, Gary got his release from the Hawkeyes and opened up his recruitment again.

Fox 28's Dean Huppert talked to his mom Monday night and she says her son is following Coach Alford to New Mexico.

It's a lot further away from home, but he likes the Assistants Steve took with him and he wants to be a Lobo.

Another player from Carmel made the same decision two weeks ago.

Alford has been seen at Concord and at Northside Gym since Dairese was a sophomore.

Rese was a huge target for Western Michigan when he was going through the process.

His brother Shawntes will be a Junior there next year.

New Mexico is his choice and he's excited for the new opportunity.
IMO, it was a long shot to land Gary. Regardless of his brother, he had chosen Iowa, and to move to WMU would be to "settle".

I'm not clear if he has "qualified" and what impact that has on the ultimate destination of DG.

Hawks comments the other day in a Couch column about banking the remaining scholarship from Cloutier was a clear signal that DG was not strongly considering us at the end of this process.
Why do I suspect the Lobo's have more to recruit with than just Indianal legend/coach? Parents will never see you play, high school friends/classmates will never see you. There are certain schools in the middle of nothing that always send up a red flag for me (Kansas State, New Mexico, Oregon).
I've said it before, Alb is a hole, that Pit is named perfectly because that's what it is, and the surrounding area for a kid has nothing to offer.

He's going to go stir crazy there. There must be something that I'm missing in terms of a 'recruiting advantage'.
He did go to Iowa because of Alford.

Maybe he isnt looking past that mug.

Your from the Elkhart area. Traveling and living in New Mexico could very well have an appeal to someone w/o the breadth of experience of DB.

In time he'll either florish or transfer. No in between. However the first hurdle is qualifying.
He's blinded by the hair gell.
The state of New Mexico, on the whole, is completely worthless. However Albuquerque is definitely not on the same level of desolation as Manhattan, KS and Eugene, OR.
