So I find myself going to the ballet downtown tomorrow night. Yes there's a woman behind all this. Anyway...I'm having a hard time figuring what I should wear for this. I'm thinking a tie at minimum.
I throw this, as one so often does with life's important questions, to the collective wisdom of a internet sports message board.
If I were you I would put on your favorite sports t shirt, your "I need to fix the car and the back porch" jeans, and a pair of work boots. When the woman asks what you are doing say, going to the opera. She will yell at you, probably say "Fine don't go!" Then you go to the bar where your buddies are strategically placed and you drink beer all night.

Black tuxedo, white ruffled shirt, black bow tie, tux slippers, pearl studs and cuff links, and a long haired gray wig. Make sure you walk into the theatre with your wrists bent and hands flapping with each step you take. Also, when you speak, make sure you heavily enunciate the "s" sounds. You'll be just dandy at the ballet!

Please, don't remind me of tucking things into leotards! The last time I wore a tutu was one of the worst nightmares of my life. I had to tuck over 500 pounds of fat, roll by roll, into a piece of tight Spandex that left very little to the imagination...or one's sanity. I was covered in sweat, and when I had an uncontrollable attack of intestinal gas, it looked like I was inflating rubber balloons from my anus. People kept staring at me like they couldn't figure out what planet I was from. I did this for 5 nights in a row before I finally got tired of it and switched to silk-reinforced nylon. It is so tough being a high society fashion plate!
you need those glasses with teh hologram eyes, so that you look awake while you are sleeping. maybe a reathe rite strip to keep you from snoring too.
what to wear to the ballet?
Red and black body paint, a jump suit, red socks and some form of crazy red had and hair. Don't forget the temp tatoos and the horn.
whatever she wants you to wear in order to increase your odds afterwards
red and black tights....in case there is an audience participation number & you get called on stage.
