Overall a good first month of baseball as UL finishes February with a winning record, 5-2. I truly wish the NCAA or whoever decides these things would move the beginning of baseball season to mid March. We were rained out of 4 games, 4 very important games as we head into March play against better teams. If it is not raining it is certainly too cold for night baseball.
Ardoin is no doubt the best pitcher we have at this point but Josh Kohrs pitched a very good game today and Jered Salazar looked great in relief. Kraig Schambough gave up 3 runs yesterday but also had 10 strikeouts and picked up his 2nd win of the season (2-0). He was followed yesterday by Thad Montgomery, who pitched 1 inning of shutout baseball (no hits, no walks, 1 strikeout). Pitching is looking good, and hitting? I'll take an average 7 runs per game (what we averaged this past weekend) with our pitching :D
I agree I think they need to move baseball back a month, I think we broke out just in time for this series. Hopefully we got all the errors and stuff out during the series against Texas St.
I have to agree Ardoin looked good. I had the privilege of making my first baseball game in 2 years. Since not living Lafayette I have missed a lot. I have been in Asia and recently residing in New Orleans. Anyway, the team looked good although I thought it would have been bigger wins against Stony Brook but was ecstatic nonetheless. I hope to be making a few more games this year to watch Tony's boys. I plan to make the Tuesday and Wednesday games.
Welcome aboard bmcollect 04-cheers
Hey Swamp I'm guessing that's the picture of the CajunDome on senior day?
I don't know when it was taken, I got it off ragincajuns.com
It looked pretty packed that's why I thought it was the senior day game this year, since I think that was the largest crowd we had.
Its from the UL vs. WKU game last season. It is quite enlarged in the media guide and I read the scoreboard. At the time the picture was taken, the scoreboard read "Cajuns 26 Toppers 19." And now you know the rest of the story.
