Ok, so I don't have to finish it now, but I'd like to get a rough idea and having it on my calandar gives me a lot to look forward to. Here are my thoughts, what are yours?....

Annapolis - 10+ hour drive. Leave Friday morning return Sunday. 1 Vacation day. Flights to Baltimore and DC are pretty darn cheap too

Temple - 10+ hour drive. Same as above.

Toledo - Leave Friday night after work. Arrive near midnight again, but the game is late Saturday.

All other midwest games look drivable Friday night or Saturday morning.

Idaho - I'm not gonna completely rule it out until it comes around, but I'm not planning on being able to attend. This year might be "Every game home and away except freakin Idaho"

So what do you think? Is the bus gonna make both East Coast games? One or the other? Can't wait!!!
I don't know if either of the East coast games are really reasonable to drive. Talked to RangerRocket and he said the drive to Temple was a b*tch last year and that was a few hundred miles closer for them. Flying for all 3 may be the best option.

Well, I can pull off at least 1 of those by air, dunno about two. If driving to one of the two East coast games comes up cheaper with 4 people splitting gas, then I may take a car to one of em.

What do you think about time off tho? I have 6 days. If it works out like I say above, I take 2 during the season and have 4 for post-season, possibly plus a personal day or two.

I like the idea of driving a car there because 1) you can deck out your car with Huskie stuff all over it (car flags, window paint, magnets) and tons of people see it as you are driving, 2) it may be cheaper when you have 4 people splitting gas and parking, 3) You can bring more stuff (Huskie cornhole set, grill, etc.), and 4) if you want to sight-see and travel around the area you have instant transportation to go wherever you want.

I know Middletown Connecticut to DeKalb sucks because it is so long(though a very simple drive). If you can split the driving, it shouldn't be that bad. Hope you guys can make it because I plan on being at at least one of them(and hopefully both Temple and Navy).

Snoopy, for once I agree with everything you said!

You'll have to make 2 shirts this year... Road Crew and "Air Crew" lmfao
Sitting in a car for 12 hours blows ass and I am definitely not driving to Idaho. I believe that going to both Temple and Navy would require driving through the mountains as well. Or am I wrong? Would snow be a factor in November?
All this NIU Huskie Football talk has me SO EXCITED for the Fall to get here and as much as I can

Haha, I never suggested driving to Idaho. That's 25 hours. I don't think 10-12 hours is that horrible with good company and Huskie gear. The Appalachian mountains are nothing compared to the Rockies, I've driven through both. I wouldn't expect Appalachian snow to be a factor in November but I wouldn't mind if someone out there put in their two cents. Doubt I'd really feel like driving both, but I'd consider driving at least one if snow wasn't a factor. I could probably fly both east coast games if absolutely necessary, but I'm still leary about Idaho. However I am accumulating Southwest points VERY quickly. I'll have 10 by late August and need 16 for a free round trip. If those 3 games snag me the reamaining 6 points, Idaho would pay for itself with a free trip to Phoenix. 02-13-banana

I don't know why you guys are so down on Idaho. If I was any semblance of the man I used to be, I would be MOST excited about driving to Idaho. Talk about an adventure!
I drove to Phillly last year in early november and NYC last June. The drive is long but easy, just hop on 80. The mountains aren't bad to travel through at all. weather wasn't an issue when i drove, just a little rain.

I did get pulled over and ticketed in Toledo by a state trooper. A buckeye and rocket fan. 05-mafia There was no way i was getting out of that one.

The Ohio cops are the worst in the nation IMO. Bart will agree with me on this one too. When I went to the MAC tournament a cop with a laser gun tried getting me. My laser jammer seemed to work on that one. There was also an article in Car and Driver about their airplane enforcement. They have something like 20 airplanes just used to get speeders.

I can certainly attest to that! On the way to Columbus last year, I got ticketed. The cop said they caught me from a plane. I was one of about 20 drivers I saw stopped by cops along the interstate. That state must really rake in the dough from alleged speeders. Yet another reason why Ohio is the armpit of the nation.
Idaho would be the hardest road trip for me, including the eventual bowl game. ;-)

I hope to do CMU and Temple as part of the same trip. :bandit: 04-rock

Since I would be going to Temple via Hartford, maybe I could carpool with RobertN. We could talk politics on the way there.

It's probably time to purchase the Huskieplane. Everyone can chip in and we'll buy an older charter plane, paint it black and red, put Victor E. on both sides and paint the nose to resemble an open mouth full of canine teeth. Tailgating would be permitted on the plane. Hot flight attendants serving up brats and beer.

Southwest doesn't fly that close to Moscow. Boise is as close as they get and that's 300 miles away. For Temple and Navy, Southwest goes to both, but Baltimore is much cheaper and 100 or so miles from Philly.

I stand corrected. I did not know Southwest went to Spokane. I was focused on using my UAL miles. Now I will have to look at SW when they open their schedule to Sept. Thanks.
