Memphis is the only thing keeping CUSA Basketball ahead of MAC Basketball at this point. CUSA goes 1-4 in bowls and now only a 1-bid league. CUSA is really showing how overrated it has become.

MAC - 2 postseason bids
CUSA - 1 postseason bid
do you want us to go undefeated in your league too? I'd like to raise that margin of victory average from 18 to at least 25. i figure playing NIU twice might do that for us.
The difference between MAC and CUSA basketball isn't Memphis......its Calipari.

BTW, I heard he was thinking of leaving for Kentucky. Get out of Memphis before its too late.

Memphis can kiss the days of #2 seeds goodbye if that is the case.

Well, we'd certainly have you if you'd have us.

I don't sense anyone ripping Memphis. Memphis is a man among boys in Conference USA, which is the real target here.

One bid league -- I predicted it two years ago, and I was off by a year.

Could anyone have predicted 1 Bid with ZERO in the NIT?

That is worse than the MAC has ever been.

More like 50

We are horrible but our new AD is very solid and we had the basketballs to fire Judson. Normally NIU would take the cheaper route and keep him around. We are making some strides to getting back to at least being respectable.
Yes, you have to take any thread on C-USA in context, that being that Marshall dumped the MAC and their fans were very happy to tell us why. One of the (many) reasons given was that C-USA had better hoops and more NCAA bids, and another was that Marshall would have better football and basketball home attendance because C-USA fans "traveled" better than MAC fans. THe fact is that since leavint the MAC their football attendance is basically flat (except for this upcoming year because WVU is on the schedule), and basketball attendance is actually down (again, because their program, which struggled in the MAC, is still struggling in C-USA). Marshall fans have stated that the move to C-USA has helped revenues, (which I won't argue with) and there are more bowl games guaranteed in C-USA, which was another rationale for jumping. I also think that Herd fans prefer a conference with more southern roots.

So, bottom line, Memphis' basketball program deserves respect, and I think most posters here would be happy to give it to you. At the same time, I think Memphis would really like to bolt C-USA for the Big East to get back to playing with UC and UL among others.

Statements like these really shows how little fans know about what is really going on. If Calipari leaves, do you really think that Memphis is not going to continue to pay 1.5 to 2.0M per year to another coach? Do you really think that they will reduce the giant national recruiting budget that allows the coach to fly all over the globe and bring in top recruits? Do you really think that Memphis will hire someone named TOS, Ramsey, Judson, Jirsa, or anyone like the coaches in Cusa or the MAC? Get real. Memphis is what it is, a national program in a small pond. They like it that way and why not as long as their fans will swallow it.

Heard of East Carolina? They had less than half the wins of our bad NIU team.
Memphis is like UNLV was in the PCAA/Big West in the 80s. Not a bad thing to be really, and UNLV eventually upped the standing of a few other teams in that league before bolting.

I'm surprised UCF did not get an NIT bid.

In any case, I don't really think we have room to talk. The MAC only won one bowl game, same as C-USA, except C-USA's bowl game was over a MAC team, ours was over a Sun Belter. Not a favorable comparison for the MAC.

One more NIT team than them. Yippee. Our conference has a 26-win team that didn't get to the postseason and our conference tournament ended in a circus. Not a lot to feel great about, in my opinion.

UCF's SOS (241) was the worst in CUSA and was even worse than Akron's (177). UCF had 5 less wins than Akron. Akron made it to the conference championship game and lost by one point, UCF didn't (lost in the quarterfinals).

MAC beat a Sun Belt team. CUSA lost to a Sun Belt team.
