Did you "find" the petition when you started it?
Nope.
I think the idea that the conference is a "laughing stock" because of the end of the tournament final is ridiculous. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone cares enough about us nationally to even remember the incident a day after.
I also think the referees did the best job with the resources they had available to them on the court. Lord knows I'm the last to defend MAC refs in general, but I think they're getting hammered unjustly.

Of anyone, why is an Akron fan upset with the officiating at the end of the game? Even ESPN's "scientific timer" showed that there was enough time (+.1 sec) on the clock for the winning shot.

They should not have given us time. I'll admit that. What the hell could any team do in .6 seconds anyway? lmfao

I'm not, and I'm not signing the petition. But playing devil's advocate, if the clock started when it should have, it's reasonable to theorize that Penno would not have readjusted to get open and might have launched it with a hand in his face. Still might've gone down. Or not.
the reason they should go is becouse this conf. is , in my humble opinion ,going down hill and confs. that i thought were not as good as the mac like the horizon and colonial and mvc have improved so much that now the mac is problably the low, low, low mid-maj.

The reason that the MAC is there is because we do NOT win the OOC games we schedule (against REAL teams). For an example, see Akron and Kent this year sitting home this year. Who did they beat OOC? Dambrots remarks are part of the problem.
Yes, I think Akron got jobbed ( grits teeth). New leadership will not fix this until we win games OOC against good teams. That is how you get respect.

Start winning OOC games against real competition.I don't believe Akron should be in the NCAA or the NIT-they did't take care of business.Nor do
I believe the Rockets should have made the NIT if they hadn't won the regular season MAC title.
I'm NOT in.
A serious student of college hoop might realize that these end of game incidents do happen in college hoops.
What does it have to do with the 'price of tea in China' or sweet crude on the spot market. ;-)
The problem wasn't the game officials. They were handed a 'no-win' situation.
Bright idea of the day:
REPLAY the game Tuesday as part of an ESPN Play-in Doubleheader.
With Dickie V. doing the lead-in with one of his more emotional sound bites, "That's just not fair..."
This is absurd.
See what MAC life was like in the years BC (Before Chryst).
1. One Bowl
2. MAC Tournament in Toledo
3. No national TV games outside of MACC
We are flipping out here about not getting a second team in the NIT, which is silly.
This is beyond stupid. Get a grip.
I signed it and I elected koeman the new commish.
While I don't agree with the logic behind the position, does anyone really disagree with its aim? Chryst is a disaster, and must go. And he can take his "head of basketball operations" with him. How bad is that guy, if the MAC's worst two-year period in living memory directly coincides with his hiring?

Can you provide evidence?

Seems to me the MAC's biggest (not its only) problem is that teams haven't responded well to the opportunities they've been given.
Can you really blame that on Chryst?
DrTorch Wrote:BobcatFan Wrote:While I don't agree with the logic behind the position, does anyone really disagree with its aim? Chryst is a disaster, and must go.
Can you provide evidence?
1) The lack of any legitimate MAC TV package for hoops;
2) The football scheduling fiasco;
3) The decision to admit Temple as a football-only member.
That should suffice for now. Aside from establishing the tournament in Cleveland, Chryst has done nothing to benefit MAC hoops. Can you provide evidence to the contrary?
DrTorch Wrote:Seems to me the MAC's biggest (not its only) problem is that teams haven't responded well to the opportunities they've been given.
I don't know what you mean by this. Seriously, what "opportunities" haven't been well responded too?
The MAC's problem is a lack of committment to NCAA basketball. The MAC needs to take a page from the MVC's book, and enact legislation forbidding the Akrons and BUGS of the conference from scheduling the embarassing non-conference slates they are putting together. BUGS's was especially embarassing this year, and ultimately achieved nothing for the school or the conference. At the same time, a progressive commissioner would be not only enforcing strong OOC scheduling, but would be reaching out to other, similarly situated conferences (A10, MVC, CAA) to sign mutually beneficial, home-and-home scheduling agreements.
Instead, Chryst has done nothing, hoping that the hiring of a do-nothing "basketball operations" official will solve all problems. It hasn't. It's time for a change.
