about tournements, the regular season don't mean a thing to most fans ,they have short memories , last year was a good season but most basketball fans remember that kent got pounded by pitt....it' all about "show me the ring"... lots of 20 game seasons is fine but no nit or ncaa silver or gold is not ...unfortunately the tournement is all geared to showcase the acc, big 10 ,sec ,pac 10 etc. once in a while a kent ,george mason sneak in the elite eight or final 4 , but in most cases after 2 rounds the same old teams are in.. the best basketball players will keep going where they can be seen on tv every week ,duke,nc,etc. etc. for this reason i wish that the mid's had their own tournement and let the acc and the others big time confs. have the ncaa tour. this would be fair for everyone and would give mids something realistic to shoot for, lets be honest with each other, an ncaa b-ball champion from the mac is pie in the sky...it aint going to happen anytime soon..comments please..... ;-)
my first post in a while, oldfan, while the odds for mac team winning an ncaa title this year are not very good, it is all about the money and the mega billion dollars that kent state receives in getting to the big dance. do you think that even espn would pick up most rounds of this "mid major tourney"? No, it would not be the same. personally, I would rather lose in the first round of the ncaa to florida by 40 than get demoted to some silly little thing. look at the four seeds on bracketology, theres nevada, unlv and southern illinois all in that spot. think theyre really wanting to get demoted to this. the main point is that almost anyone would rather have the one in one hundred chance to be a household name for a few years while they are good. (gonzaga, creighton, southern illinois, kent state, george mason, temple, unlv, texas western). The MAC would lose a TON of money and interest if it was demoted like this along with all other mids.

i do agree about one thing ,is all about the money....hay, how about a bracket buster with 16 teams , and the champ gets a 1 or 2 seed in ncaa tourn.
