This is just awesome! Wow. Way to go Phillips! 02-13-banana 04-rock 04-bow
These next few years are going to be amazing. As tough as '07 looks, it appears '08 will be MORE difficult. Now lets see if Phillips can pull off the biggest stunner in football history-a 2 for 1 with ND. 04-rock

2007

9-1 Iowa (@Soldier Field)
9-8 Southern Illinois
10-20 @ Wisconsin
11-17 @ Navy

2008

8-30 @ Alabama
10-4 @ Tennessee
TBD Navy
Assuming 1AA team for the 4th-EIU because of our new OC?

2009

9-19 @ Purdue
10-29 Wisconsin

2010

9-25 @ Tennessee
9-4 @ Iowa State

2011

9-17 @ Wisconsin
That is big time scheduling. Now NIU has to win some of these games not just play tough close games and lose.
Looks like few MAC teams can compare to the Huskies OOC schedule.

Unfortunately there are two train of thoughts. Some will complain that the MAC isn't getting any respect and not beating BCS schools and the reason is because of scheduling like this makes it really tough. If you are lucky you might win one or two of those tough BCS games. The other train of thought is to play BCS schools that are more beatable like Minnesota, Colorado, Syracuse, Purdue, Kansas, Iowa State, etc. But then others complain and say you are chickens and not playing any of the really tough BCS schools. And if you get beat bad by one of those middle of the pack BCS schools, then others see that as a really bad thing for the image of the MAC.

I'm glad you guys got Wisconsin to come to Dekalb. Playing tough opponents is no sacrifice if you can't reward your fans, players, and coaches with some home games against BCS competition.

Miami University seems to have the best mix of any MAC school. They play some really tough BCS schools and they play some mid-level BCS schools and have quite a few coming to Oxford. They will be playing 3-4 BCS schools each year in future seasons and that is outstanding.

UT's is attractive as well. If the conference can rack up some wins this year it will go a long way toward restoring the image of the MAC as a nonBCS conference on the rise.

OSU,Arizona, and Boise State aren't exactly weak opponents.Purdue and Fresno State aren't bad either.

Miami and to its credit gets a number of those games because of their ACADEMIC reputation. Many schools (NW,ND......) do not want to schedule games against institutions that heve a less than stellar reputation.

I didn't say our schedules were bad. I just said that we schedule the more winnable games. I like our schedules a lot! Before the OSU deal we really didn't have a powerhouse on the schedule though. Sure BSU just went to and won a BCS bowl game, but will they fade a bit like Utah in the next couple of years? Utah is still good, but not a powerhouse. BSU is also not considered a BCS school in the sense that I am using. Yes, I know the official terminology has all changed, but you know what I am saying.

That said, I really do love our schedules. It is one of the two different options..........either play a lot of top notch BCS schools with hardly any home games, or play a lot of middle of the pack BCS schools with several home games and a lot of very winnable games. I like the way we do it.
