Still going with my projected bracket created Feb 22nd, no changes.
I know it'll never happen, but...

Can we please just have 4 teams in the post-season? Unless Ohio sneaks up and takes the #4 seed, only the following teams deserve to keep playing in a "MAC tournament": Toledo, Akron, Kent State, Miami. Just the top four teams who earned their dues during the regular season go to Cleveland, and that's it.

Everyone else should go home.

I find a "post-season playoff tournament" where 12 teams out of 12 get to participate borderline laughable.

Yes...you have to go all the way back to 2005 to find that laughable MAC Championship game between the #4 seed and the #7 seed.
This year, four teams may have separated themselves from the pack, but that seems like the exception.

In the infamous 2005 season, wasn't Miami 12-6 and seven or eight teams 11-5? (and the MAC still didn't get a second NCAA bid!!!!????^*#$%)

It would also be tough to fill up the Gund, or whatever it is called now with just the fans of 4 teams.
you do a very nice job with this bracket

Thanks Vandelay, I appreciate that!

i couldn't disagree more. i think inviting all 12 teams to Cleveland is a great idea. Look at some of the "major" conferences and their tournaments. they have all of their games played at a neutral site. i know the Big East eliminates the bottom 4 teams but that's because their conference is so freaking big! i may be wrong but i don't think the Big Ten, the ACC, or the SEC eliminates teams from their post-season tournaments.

The big conferences don't have to worry about their best teams making the NCAA tournament. I kind of like what the Horizon does, where the top 2 teams get byes to the semis, but that's a conference with fewer members. Not sure how you could do that with 12 teams.
You have to invite all 12 because of the unbalanced schedule. The regular season determines seeding not the best team.....I think Akron is the best team, but the seeds say Toledo or perhaps Kent State....Miami is playing like the best team now......Ohio is playing like a 10 seed while CMU is looking like they are gonna bounce someone this year.

Seeing Western possibly in Kent's Thursday quarterfinal game sends chills down my spine.

Redhawk fans are uneasy as well staring OU down in the #5 slot.
I like the way that #1 or #2 seed match up as of now. #3, I don't like so much. Would not like to see WMU again. I actually think that NIU or UB could be dangerous early as well.
Tournament time always bring out the typical sandbagging and way too much respect is given out. Low seeds are low seeds for a reason. High seeds are high seeds for a reason. Truth is, the #1 seed has won the tourney four of the last five years so for all of the debate about sleepers or the occasional upset, it usually goes mostly according to plan. #7 seeds have made the finals the last two years, but they were only a game or two worse than most of the other top teams those years. I don't see anyone below top 5 seeds making the finals this year. If someone does win in the quarters, it will be a break for the team that gets to play the upstart in the semis.

Attendance has nothing positive or negative to do with expanding the tournament. It is about giving it a "big-time" feel and including the traditionally weaker teams who rarely make it to Cleveland. Reggie Witherspoon campaigned hard for it a few years ago before his Bulls made it to Cleveland 3 years in a row. I have attended parts of the MAC tournament for the past five years, and it doesn't seem to me that very many fans of losing teams stick around after their team loses so inviting 12 teams the first day does nothing to help the crowds Friday or Saturday IMO.
For the 6 to 12 teams, I think EMU, CMU, WMU are all capabale of advancing deepin the tournament. Especially EMU, I have a suspicion they could be the big story of the lower seeds.
in the end it will be toledo vs akron or kent..its a no brainer.....nothing too hard to figure out... 02-13-banana 04-rock ;-)

I would not be so sure about that, I think Toledo could get a heck of a scare from Eastern Michigan.
For a 6-12 team to make the finals, they would have to win 3 games in 3 days. Right? Has any of those teams won three games in a row all year? I could reason why any one of 12 teams could win a quarterfinal game. The MAC has enough parity for it to happen. But to hear people like Michael Reghi and Mark Adams to talk about teams like NIU and WMU as sleepers is ridiculous. If they were that good, they wouldn't be where they are at. With the exception of 2005, the MAC is not good enough or balanced enough where a couple bad breaks can make a .500 team.

You can scare Toledo all you want, doesn't mean that anybody is going to beat Toledo in Cleveland. Especially Eastern.
