Bobcats women are the story today.
Bobcats win at BGSU....ending BGSU win streak.
Have to hand it do OU. BG came out a little flat and OU stuck around.

Great ball control and post play by Silva (sp) was the keys to the win today.

I found it odd, however, that the refs were letting them play in the first half, but in the second half they called the most absurd ticky-tack fouls.

Anyway, congrats to OU. BG's MAC win streak ends at 39 games. Two years and one day.
Geesch...what is the BUGS obsession with refs?

Obsession? What obsession? I was making an observation. 8 fouls in the first half (1 by BG), 20 in the second half (11 by BG). The refs were letting them play in the first half.
When a player pushes through a screen and not making any contact, yet being called for a reach, I would call that "ticky-tack."

But the refs weren't the reason BG lost the game.
Amazing win. I'm thrilled for them. Wasn't it your senior day?

Nope. Miami which is the next game.
Bad loss for BGSU.

Had hoped they could make a deep run in the NCAA. But losing to OU late in the season gives me less hope of that.
Certainly will give BG a much worse NCAA seed. I doubt they have any problems at the Q. Those home losses to 100+ RPI teams are brutal. Hasn't it been a while since a MAC team won an NCAA game or did BG win once recently? They will now get a tougher team for sure in the first round.

At least one prognosticator had us at a 5, which would have been an awesome spot -- much like the 12s that have served the MAC so well on the mens side in some years.

It will be interesting to see how much this moves the RPIs. I would think the Falcons are still an at-large bid. But at what seed?

From what I understand, the 'cats shot the lights out and the Falcons couldn't hit a thing. One of those days.

Congratulations, Bobcats.

Incidentally, I don't think Bowling Green has ever won an NCAA tournament game. I still think this could be that year.
I'm very proud of OUr women today! that was a huge win for us. Anytime you can beat the cream of the crop, it's huge. Obviously BG is tops in women's basketball and I'm sure the Falcons will continue to have a great season.

Nice job, OU women! 04-bow

Yeah, the odds of anyone in the MAC tourney coming within 20 of BG now just went way down now that they have fire in their eyes. I don't think they'll take this loss lightly. I smell some smackdowns coming on.
I think the women's team at Ohio has a bright future under Crawley. She had done an amazing job in her first year. I think today marks the point where the womens team at Ohio has passed the mens team. Mens team has declined from contender to a mediocre team that can't beat its top rivals on any court. The womens won on the road against a ranked team. O'Shea has never beaten a ranked team in his six years. Crawley is the toast of the town tonite in Athens.

I see a easy solution, rotate coaches. OTOH, keep TOS where he is. 05-stirthepot
i don't think it's fair to compare what Crawley has done with the women with what O'Shea has done with the men. This year alone, look at the defections O'Shea has had to deal with. Crawley's team is much deeper and the level of competition is different than what O'Shea has to deal with...not better or worse, just different. you can't make a valid comparison between the men's team and the women's team in my mind.

Crawley has done a great job, but I wouldn't use that to say O'Shea has not done a great job. Obviously i'm not saying O'Shea has done a great job, but I'm not using a comparison to Crawley as the basis to say that.

I'm pretty sure they did win one my last year at BG. Spring Sem 1988. They beat Cincy, when the womens field was expanded. Then they lost to Maryland I think.

I don't think this is a deal killer for BG. They'll still get an invite to the NCAAs, and this isn't going to affect their game.
Hopefully this doesn't hurt their seeding in the NCAA tourney. If BG had to loose one it would of been better if it were in the final game of the MAC tourney so we could get two teams in.

That happens all the time. THis is nothing new. They get together at half and realize the game is getting to physical and to cut down on the physical play-to avoid fights and injuries-they take back control of the game. It is really difficult for them to get together during the game to discuss it.

There was talk that Ball State had an at-large resume. I'm not familiar with what they've done these past few games, though.

After the first ten or 15 spots in the polls, it's wide open. A lot of mediocrity in the big conferences this year.
Congrats to Ohio!!! :uberbow:
