The 2007 MAC football recruiting report now has, in addition to all 13 team reports, the VanDelay Sports rankings of the top players by position, the top JUCOs & transfers, the top freshmen and the top sleepers.

I see DE Joe Rash is #4 and #5 on the DL, and he plays for both Akron and NIU.

Just an fyi.
I can't believe Merriweather is not in the Top 5 RB's.

why would he? afterall Big East, Big 12 and Big 10 schools all offered him and Tom Lemming (CSTV Recruiting Editor) said Merriweather "might be the best player from Missouri for 2007". There are at least 5 better RB's recruited by other MAC schools than Merriweather.

Nick and the five RBs are?
Nate Brown is the #4 QB....but he's also a "sleeper". Didn't realize the MAC was so good that the conference could start sleeping on *** QB's.

Willie Geter and Gary Wright are the real sleepers from BG's class

Technically only Scout.com rates him 3 stars. Rivals has him as 2 stars. ;-)

Toledo signed two QB's that are three stars by both Rivals and Scout. Does that mean we have two of the best QB's in the MAC recruiting classes? I'm not sure I would say that. Cadet is big-time, but Lenehan is gonna have a lot to prove.
I think Chester Stewart would be the ultimate definition of "sleeper QB" considering he only started at QB for one year in high school... you can check out his video and a majority of the owl recruits here

Vandelay has Aaron Williams listed at running back, but he was recruited to Akron to play linebacker. Marshall was the only school that was looking at him as a running back. Toledo, Akron, and Buffalo were recruiting him as a linebacker.

I'm shocked that Merriweather isn't #1 or #2 on the list to be honest.
My favorite is that the list of the Top 30 freshman stops at number 25.

RF...RIvals had no film on Nate Brown and Scout.com did...therefore, Scout.com is the source I'm going with ;-)
Ok, so there are a couple of small errors like Top 30 being a Top 25 list. I take full responsibility; that is my fault. You guys can always send me a PM if you catch something like that.
Merriweather is solid and was my #6 RB. I really like the top-5 prospects listed and I think you will see these young men prove their high ranking during their college careers.

Overall I thought the MAC did a nice job at signing RBs, WRs, OL and DBs this year. I thought the MAC was a little soft overall on QBs, DL and LBs compared to some previous years of doing my analysis.

As for the BG QB prospect listed #4, from most of the data I could find, I saw that he only had offers from Buffalo and Temple. Several other schools looked at him and may have sent him recruiting letters, but I only could find those two offers along with BG. That's why I listed him as a 'sleeper' prospect as well. Overall the MAC was thin at QBs this year and this guy has the physical features to become another solid and productive QB for the Falcon offense.

I enjoyed putting this data together and for any mistakes I made, my sincere apologies. To me this is a fun time of the year with MAC Madness coming up, football recruiting, and spring football around the corner.

I hope you the readers had some fun with this info too.

I know it's early, but both Miami University and Toledo have quite a few offers out to some "big-time" players for the 2008 recruiting class. It's going to be exciting to see which of these kids commit to Miami and Toledo as the new recruiting season continues.

Although we may seem a tad contentious with some of our criticisms, I hope you consider that it's a sign that we're reading your work and paying attention to it.

In my case, you should consider the source as well ;-)
