If 7 conference games is a possibility, why doesn't the West only play 5 conference games (against each other) and the East play 6 conference games (against each other).

The remaining games needed to fill the schedule will be non-conference games against league competitions.

Example

Toledo
2 OOC home games
2 OOC road games
3 home con games
2 road con games
1 home league game against the east
2 road league games against the east

Kent
1 OOC home game
4 OOC road games
3 home con games
3 road con games
1 home league game against the west

Only division opponents will count this year for conference standings. Games against the other division will be non-conference games. Teams that need a home game (Kent) will get visited by a team with six or more home games (Toledo) to balance out the schedule.

Teams that sacrifice like Toledo in my example above, will get travel costs paid for by the home team and will recieve half of the game revenue.
That is what our schedule's supposed to be, except we have 3 ooc home games and 1 away.

That's a really good home schedule. Only team no one would care about is Liberty. Get to play two BCS teams at home and two MAC powers -- NIU and MU. Nonetheless, Toledo should have tops attendance in the MAC next season with that schedule. The best OOC team NIU brings in is 1-AA SIU.

That really is a fabulous home schedule, alot of envy over here from the NIU side of things.
Our conference cross-over opponents are in jeopardy right now because of the scheduling issues. I doubt we will be playing both Buffalo and Miami as originally scheduled, maybe one of them.

If the pattern continues, I wouldn't be surprised to see our new AD allow the MAC office to tell us we have to drop our home game with UT this season so that we can have a non-conf game against Arkansas State or something. 03-hissyfit

What you said is basically what the MAC did in 2000 & 2001. Only division games counted for deciding MAC Championship game teams. The crossover games were still considered conference games, but they didn't mean anything.
