Objects in Your Rear View Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear

Look at the trend over the last two games, both at HOME for the Flashes and the Zips against the same two teams, EMU and CMU:

KSU beats EMU by a margin of 36, 82 to 46. We go 10 deep.
Akron beats EMU by a margin of 10, 70 to 60. Have no idea how many deep they go.

KSU beats CMU at home by 16, 61 to 45. We go eight deep.
Akron beats CMU AT HOME tonight by a margin of seven, 78-71. Shocking.

We hold these teams to 46-45 and both lay 60 on Akron, again AT HOME. 04-jawdrop

Given what we saw out of Toledo last night, this is not the trend they want to ride going to UT on the road. It is, however, the trend we want.
;-)

Could we be tied for first at the beginning of next week? Better yet, given our surge, could we be ahead?
Speculation:

Reasoning based on inconclusive evidence; conjecture or supposition.
Betcha K.D. doesn't look at the stats comparing the same week, same home court advantage against the same teams and calls them speculation.

But if he does, glad he's your coach and not ours. ;-)
Go ahead...keep dreaming up the coulda woulda shoulda's.

We destroyed Western and they almost beat OU, who beat us.

You can't compare scores like that.

Take your own advice from another post ....it's a long season...anything can happen on any given night.

The difference between you, us, Toledo and OU isn't that much.

Right now the records speak for themselves.

Lets see what happens on the court.

It's going to be fun!
Normally I'd agree, except when the same four teams play with the same players and HC advantage within a week. There isn't a DI coach in America ( heck not a HS coach in America) that wouldn't look for trends in those circumstances.

It's not who played who that's helpful...it's when, with whom, time of season and court advantage.

But have a good time on your trip.

PRE-LAW I ASSUME lmfao ...i hope it comes down to the last game my fine pouch wearing rodent ..and i hope is really cold that day so it will make that ride home to akron for all you big rats a living hell. lmfao ..76 is verry dark .....we will pound you at kent.. you will go home with no tail.... 04-rock 04-rock 02-13-banana 02-13-banana
So akron is pretty dang good this year. there are four teams in the MAC that are all about equal and would probably all win most of the games against eachother on their home courts.

The glaring arrogance from some akron fans after our first game puzzled me. did they really think that they won the mac with that game? did they think they erased 8 years of consistent dominance and several championships? hopefully not, but thats the way it seemed with alot of comments from the Dips fans

We are still getting better. If we dont give a great defensive effort, we can lose to anyone. that being said, we are nowhere near the same team akron saw this year. They have no idea.

True...but that's all you guys go on (hence the football nightmare you had this year!)

.....
FYI: UA played EMU on the ROAD, not at home.
Did not understand that, and you're right that it's not a home vs home comparison. Still leaves the comparable facts as within a week, using the same guys, we beat EMY by 36 to AU's 10. Four points is a pretty standard home court advantage, which still leaves a 22 point difference.

Mt other point is that we saw a Toledo team the other night that has the potential for lots of firepower. We took them playing our best defense of the year. I wouldn't be too excited to take them at home just after CMU & EMU scored 60 on you.

But, all chat until this weekend. Maybe the Zips rise to the occasion. Maybe.
Come now. The Zipheads think they'll win by double digits. And they know more about basketball than anyone.
I sure hope the Kent players aren't thinking about the Akron game like this. They have a gig in Kalamazoo coming up, and that is the only thing that matters right now.

You beat Toledo AT HOME and barely, and you get all giddy? Come on. I really hope your team thinks like you do.
Look at this trend flash
Akron beats Flashies by double digits at the JAR.
Pressure's on you now. Will you defend your house?
this post is waaaaaaaay premature. when ksu meets akron in mac tourney final.. the we'll talk!

right now, its all about taking care of WMU on sunday.

For the record, I'm not referring to anything beyond this weekend- Zips at Toledo, Flashes at WMU- and a chance to pull even.

Out of curiosity, exactly what pressure is on us? We have a bunch of newcomers learning to play together, are expected to finish third, and already have a trophy. Our guys are just starting to look like they're having fun.

The Zips, on the other hand, have been annointed as champs since last August. They just have to show up at the Gund and take it. 03-nerner
07-coffee3 03-yawn Now who is obscessed w/ who????

I love this rivalry and recent improvements in Zips basketball and Flash football (for 1/2 season atleast) have refreshed the vigor between our schools. But this thread is like comparing apples to a cornish game hen. There are too many variables each night, and denying that makes you sound like Jerry Faust. In the end the only stat that truely matters is wins and losses. The mAc tourney doesn't mean a thing until after we meet again at your MACC. Using margins of victory to predict each teams record at that point is ridiculous. (ridiculous... hooray i said the magic word..!!!!!..) But here's some smack you can take to the bank... if we lose at the MACC, our drive home will only be cold because we don't have those fine Kent babes to keep us warm at night :domokun:

lmfao

Keep obscessing..... we always knew you had it in you!! ;-)
no one here is giddy like akroin fans were in jan. or obsessed, see we don't have to make ourseleves feel better by programming the word Akron or Zips to be Crackron or dips evertime its written, thats obsession.

Like I said in a previous post, Akron is good, but they arent head and shoulders better than anyone. the final four in Cleveland will be a dog fight, it doesnt matter who plays who.

Now if you want to look at records, I'll just point out that the only thing that really separates us from Akron is that WE played 3 top ten teams on the road.

The fact is that Akron has to play OU at home(not an easy game) Miami on the road(not a gimme either) Buffalo on the road(capable of the upset), Toledo on the road(will be lucky to come out of there with a win) and us in our place(;-) ) so realistically, If we win the games we are supposed to, first place should come down to March 4th in the MACC
GO FLASHES!!!!

OMG, do you really need to use that many big words on a sports bulletin board to try and sound smart?

You just keep telling yourself that... whatever helps you sleep at night. 01-wingedeagle

Honestly, the whole Can't thing is just funny lmfao but not quite to the point of beating a "Black Horse" to death.....

Agreed as long as you admit we have a harder schedule down the stretch ;-). But i still see us w/ the better overall record and winning the tie breaker. Dream game: We hold up our end this year and meet you/win the MAc tourney final at the Q. 05-mafia

The number of Zips fans lurking around here shows you are obsessed with us. Look at the name at the top of the board.
