Hello folks.

The Dev Team is hard at work on the NCAAbbs Generation 4 platform ("Aurora"). It's a massive MASSIVE upgrade over phpBB for both the users, mods, and developers of this site.

We do have a custom skin in the works for here and intend to get it up ASAP. However, at this point it appears like we will hold off on developing all new team skins for phpBB. It just doesn't make sense to develop something we'd have to redo immediately.

We are getting very close to the point where we can "throw the switch" and leave phpBB. NCAAbbs, NCAAwiki, and CFBPalace will have a moderate downtime tonight as we try a test conversion of *all* boards to the new format.

Let me assure you we have NOT forgotten about getting a skin setup, and in fact when we move to Aurora, you will have a custom skin greeting you here upon move-in.

We're very close -- just hang with us a little longer.

I'm sick of all these message board switchings. I like ezboard (what scout.com used to be) and phpBB (which is what this is now).

The things I need in a message board:
1) The ability to know which individual posts are new since my last visit (which Ezboard does perfectly and phpBB does "ok"). The new scout.com crap is terrible at that.

2) The ability to know who's online.

Anything else is gravy.

Trust me when I say it will blow you away. Posting YouTube and Google Video in threads...... RSS feeds.... Portals...... It's phpBB + 3 times more utility and features.

We're just too old, TG. I don't mind change when there is an upside - better features, etc. The change over on BI seems to me to be a change just so that scout can control things, and it seems a step backwards rather than forward.

Every time things have changed over here, they have been for the better. So I am crossing my fingers.

I had just PMed georgia_tech_swagger to inquire about our team skin and his reply here makes sense to me.

Wow. That sounds way cool.

Reads all this ^ with trepidation. The last major upgrade I went through on this site resulted in my being unable to log in for a year or so. Scout's upgrade has resulted in me being unable to post on the new setup. It never fails...whenever a network upgrades, it spells trouble for the MSN TV2 users. YouTube is lovely, but I can't access it, and it won't do me a diddly damn bit of good. The bells and whistles excite some, certainly those in charge of websites and those designing the software. But many of us just need the basics.

And now, I'm off to balance my checkbook using my abacus.
