Terry Foster (Detroit News) on the UDM/Butler game at Callihan Hall on the UDM campus.

"On Saturday, fans missed an event in Detroit. We saw David try to slay Goliath and missed the improbable because of a few missed opportunities.

We know Detroit is a pro sports town. It always has been, Titans coach Perry Watson said. What you and I look back on was the missing ingredient that was not available and that was the tremendous amount of games on ESPN. You look at today.

"It was a nice crowd but because you had Michigan on TV before us and Michigan State on TV after us. So I dont think it is a Detroit thing. It is more of an urban school type of thing.

The last paragraph pretty well sums it up.

There is a satiation of college sports on about a DOZEN sports channels - especially those with DirecTV or equivalent.

Hell I watched two prep games on ESPN-U (one was GREAT) yesterday so I had my choice of UofM, George Mason (I live in suburban D.C.), WMU/Akron, two prep games and MSU/OSU.

Think I was GLAD there was NO EMU game to get lost in this wall to wall TV hoops mania.

Like is there any oxygen left in the room???
I did watch the Akron/WMU with a good size crowd@Bru's Room(Great Wings) in Deerfield Beach,Florida. There was about 200 people that wouldn't be exposed to MAC BB if it wasn't for ESPN2.

One of the things I really, really believe is that mid-majors need to be sure that games which are telecast somehow, somewhere get up on the satellite so folks with DirecTV, etc can watch.

The biggest problem now is Comcast Sports Local (MI and IN) has a LOT of games but they service their own CABLE system and don't provide the signal to DirecTV (their competitor).

What I'm saying is that a C/E/WMU fan outside the midwest is missing a lot of televised games but there is nothing which can be done to get them out on DirecTV.

(oops, I should add that MACAccess is available).
Excellent point Steve, I have Dish for various reasons cost being one of them and in home Sirus radio for the other and therefore I get to see no EMU sports on TV.
