Um, yea. Not really. The all time most over rated and over hyped team, year in and year out is Notre Dame. This is not even a close contest.

you wouldn't say that if you lived in central Ohio! trust me on that one! lol
Zero State received way more hype than ND has on any year. The ability to hype is stronger. They were on more cable and satelite tv shows, the internet chat rooms and message boards. I don't remember anyone receiving as much hype as Zero State. It was a great game to watch. No excuses, no controversy, plain and simple Florida was a much better team.

That small (12K enrollment), DI independent, private school sure does make you jealous. Is it the cheer that's got you down?

Hey you Buckeyes,
Don't you fuss
'Cause someday
You'll work for us

There is nowhere in this entire country that Notre Dame isn't hyped. Hell, they got a BCS game and they were ranked 10! ! th ! Are you kidding me? This happens EVERY YEAR! Remember, they've lost 9 bowl games in a row. Why? Because they are playing in a game they don't deserve to be involved in, EVERY YEAR!

Not being in Ohio, we're not as exposed to the OSU hype as our Ohio MAC fans. ND is overhyped not only in metro Chicago but across the country. It's not just their own TV network, they have a national radio network as well. No other college program or pro team has that.

What's telling about the 0-9 bowl record is that many of those losses weren't close. If they had lost 9 straight games by 3 pts, I doubt many would say they didn't deserve to get those games but most have been in the 14-28 point loss range.

In contrast the only other Roman Catholic university to play D1A college football now has an 8 game bowl winstreak, the longest currently in college football and likely near the top in NCAA history, yet if anything BC gets a lack of coverage by the national media.
BC football isn't even that big a deal locally most of the time. They compete with the Sox for the spotlight during the first half of the season and the Pats all the time. Heck, even their own hockey team probably gets more coverage.

Notre Dame always loses their bowls because they get in better bowls then their ranking should allow because they get out the attendance so well. Seriously, who deserves a BCS bowl more: Auburn or Notre Dame?

If ND finishes BCS bowl eligible, they'll get a BCS bowl. Period.
When you have a tradition of 11 national championships, 7 Heisman Trophy winers, 78 All Americans, 36 players on current NFL rosters with the most loyal fan base in the country- you, too, will cash in on a little equity. Let me know when that day comes.
Quote:Seriously, who deserves a BCS bowl more: Auburn or Notre Dame?

Once you're out of the title game picture, "deserves" has got nothing to do with it beyond the criteria minimums set forth by the BCS. It's who will sell the most tickets, spend the most money in town, and bring the highest TV ratings. Always has been, and until there's a full-blown playoff, always will be.

And for the record, both Auburn and Wisconsin were not eligible due to the BCS' own rules that state no more than two teams from one conference can receive a bid to a BCS game. That rule was set forth by the BCS conferences themselves when the system was set up to prevent any of their competitors from taking up too much of the BCS dough in any given year. So if the Badgers and Tigers have an issue with their bowl destinations this year, they can take it up with their own conference commissioners -- it was their own fault.

Would Auburn have given LSU a better game, if that rule didn't exist? Undoubtedly. But I seriously doubt the Sugar Bowl would have wanted to bank their national TV ratings and much-needed tourist revenue on a rematch of two regional conference rivals, who battled to a scintillating 7-3 final score during the regular season.

(But, then again, I don't think a second-place team that played an comically soft non-conference schedule that included Buffalo, Arkansas State and Tulance, got pounded twice at home, squeaked by a 4-8 Ole Miss team and then barely beat a mediocre Nebraska squad has much room to gripe about anything regarding a BCS bid...)

I'm continually amazed that people will continue to gripe about the at-large selections every year in the BCS, despite the fact that every year, there are three-loss, four-loss, and in one recent case, a five-loss team taking up slots simply because of their conference affiliation, which demands that their champion, no matter how average, receives an automatic BCS slot. To me, that's a much larger injustice than a two-loss ND, Texas or Michigan team getting in.

Quote:Seriously, who deserves a BCS bowl more: Auburn or Notre Dame?

Completely irrelevant question.

No more than 2 teams from any one conference are allowed to go to the BCS. Florida and LSU were already in the BCS. Auburn was not eligible to go. Same situation Wisconsin was in.
